When I think franchise QB I think about guys like Mahomes Rodgers Manning Brady Brees etc… I see guys whose team place the game and their outcome entirely in the hands of their QB and it results in them winning a ton of games and competing for championships. The game manager is a guy who is very roster dependent. The franchise QB can survive holes in the roster. Rodgers has rarely had a defense. Brady had a revolving door at WR in his career and a spotty OL at other times. Mahomes is a projection because we’ve never seen dude without greatness at TE and WR1 but dude has overcome spotty defense.

Truth be told, I would call the bottom half of 32 teams every year a guy who is best in the role of game manager. They are heavily roster dependent. There are only really 4-6 true franchise guys in the league at any one time that isn’t heavily roster dependent for their success. You know those type of guys are going to have their teams there every year regardless of issues and holes on a roster.
These are all good points....but Baker's best season was with garbage at receiver and an awful defense.

I don't mean this as a bad thing toward him but Brady is a game manager to me for sure. Mostly short passes/dump offs and making his slot guys his best receivers (at least in NE).

I used to see Brady in the same way. Early in his career he had a great roster, great d, great run game, great OL. But then we saw those things disappear and dude was winning in a spread attack throwing it 50 times a game. Brady really shouldn’t be used by me at all in a discussion like this. Brady is a unicorn who clearly sold his soul to the devil for his success because I can see why that skill set was drafted in round 6 haha. Dude is just the GOAT and one of a kind and for guys like us who watch the college game and assess guys, this makes no damn sense Haha.

lol @the Browns saying they ''want an adult'' at QB while courting DeShaun Watson.

Hey, he's 5 months older than Baker. Major difference lol. He has his own residence and everything.

I think the adult comment was probably more applicable if they can't get Watson (in other words Baker's gone with or without a Watson trade).

So true, but I think what they are talking about is Bakers propensity to be a rah rah guy full of emotion. I don’t think they are calling him a child.

...or they don't want to turn to a rookie from this year's class

Glad they are out of it now but apparently they had the best offer. Watson either wants his hometown, not likely, or the Saints. Weather probably being a big priority

he might be....but he also might stay. My guess is without a clear upgrade Baker comes back.

Haven't heard the Browns call him anything. Because the Browns FO is headed by adults is all I really care about.

patch it up with Baker please.
what's to patch up? seems like while he was told he was the guy was also told if they'd look into a "top tier QB" if they had the chance.

Baker has 3 options....
1) ball out and get paid (or at least try to)
2) quit/retire
3) hold out, not be paid, and be in same position next season

Guessing he and his agent understand this is a business
