Not upset that he left, now that we know what he was.

The nearly 3 month meltdown you all have been having says otherwise. No one keeps up the complaining, etc. for this long if they're "not upset".

but that doesn’t mean there won’t be bad blood going forward.

But OU fans "aren't upset". lol

Also doesn’t mean that Riley’s rep isn’t tarnished in the coaching world.

Hate to break it to you, but it's not.

I believe he is currently enrolled on his own, but he will go on scholly. You have to know coaches have ways of handling that stuff. I really can’t believe you are even questioning this one kid, I brought it up and showed how hard it was for him to leave Clemson, all because of Venables. It’s an integrity thing, that’s all. Obviously Riley can live with it, it will be ok.

I'm not questioning the kid. Venables said he didn't have a spot for him. And yes, I do know that coaches have ways of handling that stuff. It means that some kid who also wanted to go to OU and who has already invested time and effort in the program, is going to lose his schollie. It'll just be done quietly so OU fans can still try to pretend that OU is somehow different than everyone else. Some kid is going to lose his schollie, he won't be able to complain, because it will hurt his portal opportunities and OU fans will tell themselves that the kid just didn't have it while talking about Venables amazing integrity for fitting in a kid he didn't have a spot for.

You still haven't said who the kids that left were supposed to get the blessing from to leave OU. Or were they supposed to put their future on hold and wait for OU to hire someone and get his blessing?

Not upset that he left, now that we know what he was. In life it’s all about how you go about doing things sometimes. He may be the best offensive coordinator in the country, but it’s obvious he wasn’t worthy of what was given to him. It’s ok, OU is better off, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be bad blood going forward. Also doesn’t mean that Riley’s rep isn’t tarnished in the coaching world.

As for the kid that wanted to play at OU, I believe he is currently enrolled on his own, but he will go on scholly. You have to know coaches have ways of handling that stuff. I hate to tell you this, but coaches aren’t going to hold it against Riley that he left OU the way he did. Look at Brian Kelly, Saban, Meyer and others. It’s the nature of the field.

It is the ugly side of the business. Every coach at every level where they are paid to coach, is hired to be fired. As soon as fans, admins, etc. decide he's not winning enough...he's gone and no one talks about integrity, loyalty or even a contract. It's get the bum out and bring in someone better.

Riley’s rep is absolutely tarnished because it is widely known that he was getting paid by OU for a long period of time and was phoning it in. It happens in life for sure, not generally at this level though.

You are completely full of shit on the one kid, not usually like you, but that is ok, to each their own.

As for the kids that switched to USC, I’m not saying they should have gotten anyones permission, I’m saying that what they did is not even an option in a lot of cases. Some coaches would have wished them luck and moved on.

Good luck with your coach, he went where he should have.

Stafford has to be a HOF'er now.

For him to get a HOF nod I think he needs to get his W/L record closer to .500. He's 86-95-1 right now.

Eh I don’t think his record will be held against him. Eli Manning is getting in and has a sub .500 record. Stanford was with the Lions. No one is winning with that organization.

Not any time soon, that’s for sure, but I do think the Lions will get better when they get a better QB now. I like their coach. I think Stafford is very borderline at the moment, he’s not done though.

Actually Eli is exactly at .500 (117-117).

Name one QB in the HOF in the that's in there with a sub .500 record. The only one I can think of is Broadway Joe (62-63-4).

lol

Tell yourself whatever you need to. If he were to resign at USC tomorrow, his agents phone would explode with messages from other schools and NFL teams wanting to hire him. Just because Sooners fans want his rep to be tarnished, doesn't mean it is.

You are completely full of shit on the one kid, not usually like you, but that is ok, to each their own.

I guess you didn't read your own article. The ''I don't have a spot for you'' is a direct quote from Venables. Yet, the kid is at OU. Since Venables ''didn't have a spot for him'', one had to be created. That means that some other kid lost his, or soon will. It's how it's done. You don't honestly think that every kid who has left OU, left by their own choice, do you?

lol

If you think a kid following a former coach to his new school isn't an option in a lot of cases, you haven't been paying attention. A coach isn't going to tell a highly ranked, talented player that he recruited and in some cases, has already played for him, that he can't come to his new school.

And you did say they should have done like the kid Venables didn't have a spot for and gotten someone's blessing. You just haven't said whose they were supposed to get. It's literally the bar you set with your Venables story.

Exactly.

The meme I posted shows a lot. The Lions are a horrible franchise.

And Stafford has something like 40 or so comeback wins. The Lions defense was trash most of the time he was there.

Agree to disagree I guess, not doing this forever. There are ways to do things, some care and some don’t. We will see how it works out.

Sonny Jurgensen.

Good call. But how many decades ago was that? He played in a much different era. Should have said in the last handful of decades when's the sub .500 QB to get in.

Is there a QB in the HOF with a sub .500 record that didn't play in the 50's, 60's or 70's?

And the Rams have the weapons I think to win 11/12 games for a couple more seasons. That would get Stafford's sub .500 record much closer or over .500.

He will be over .500 when he retires and comes up for HOF consideration.

But, I don't think him being slightly under .500 matters as much as you do. Eli, Dan Fouts, and Warren Moon are all either .500 or just above.....Staff is currently at 48% and most realize that is a direct reflection of him being on some BAD Detroit teams.

They made a lot of mistakes down the stretch. Great drive by Stafford. Sucks for Bengals fans bc of that clear blown call that probably decided the game but Rams won it with their defense

Jalen Ramsey is not sure if you're serious
