I mean, not an exciting hire but other than being the Browns anything factual to support the angst we should have? Likely was hired due to his success with running QBs (Allen and Newton) that could help with Watson.

we'll see.

His "success" could've been just carry-over from Daboll. He had such a short tenure that I don't know how much was actually him.

So just assume it wasn't him? Allen lobbied for him. From all reports Newton loved the guy, too.

I was hoping for Kubiak but that was not based on much.

I don't think his play calling was particularly good.

They did score the most points last season I believe and he helped turned Allen into an elite QB. Struggled some this year for a stretch and for whatever it was worth Allen said it was more on the players.

Guess we'll see and can only hope it works as well as last season's coaching hires.

Bills fortunes turned when he was replaced. Could be coincidence, but.....?

Could be.....but why was the O (and allen) so good last season? Glad to at least see the players held themselves accountable.

Allen's stats weren't really any better last season. A few more picks, but fewer overall TDs and a lower completion percentage. Josh ran more the previous year over all, fumbled more. But for some reason, he wasn't running that much this year until the coordinator change.

Guy had an MVP caliber season and seemed to get a better when Dorsey joined them..... and pretty sure they were #1 or 2 in points in 2022 but OK.

Can only hope the hires work as well as the ones last offseason did.

He had an MVP caliber season this year as well. People get caught up on 4 more INTs, but he also had 3 fewer fumbles. Wash.

He did...and it was from the 10 games under Dorsey as much as the 7 without him.

...and 5 of their 6 losses in those 10 games. Only loss under Brady was the OT loss to the Eagles.

Yep...had a nice stretch after he was let go. are you really thinking it was all on the OC who also ran the O for the offense that was top 2 in yards and points the previous season?

Guess we'll see how it works out. Not sure how much it matters anyway as my guess is KS still calls the plays.

Curious if there was someone else you think would have been a better hire. I was hoping Kubiak but admittedly was not based off of much.

Haven't looked into OCs. Just thinking a guy that got fired mid-season might not be the top name available. If you're looking for a Bills-style offense, I don't see Watson filling Josh's role.

I think they are just looking for his experience with running QBs. No doubt it's a different style of running than Allen (or Newton).

something tells me, though, had the Browns been the team to fire Dorsey (or did the same to a different coach) the narrative would have been they used him as a scapegoat. Amiright?

Not if the team goes from 5-5 with him to 6-1 without IMO with a re-dedication to running the ball (both with RBs and Josh). The defense only took on more and more injuries as the season progressed, so it wasn't that side of the ball.

at that point you'd have likely just been silent (like you will be if Browns' offense picks up where it left off....or is even better with injured guys back) after calling him the scapegoat when he was let go.
