This is just circular logic. First, you don’t know the extent of his injury and the risk he was taking in playing. Most importantly, there is imminently less risk if the Ravens had made a long term commitment to him so it’s chicken or the egg. Good luck to the Ravens. 1. Pay him his fair market value (including percentage of contract guaranteed)
2. Have him count against their cap for 32.5 million while he doesn’t play and their season is DOA before camp
3. Remove the tag to free up 32.5 in cap and then Jackson is truly a free agent.
This is a game of chicken and both parties are taking risk. If Lamar signs the franchise tender he’s the only one taking the risk. If he’s my client I counsel him not to sign.
