Lmao, yeah go ahead and hold out and try to make up that much money. I’m glad the Ravens aren’t caving. As far as being appreciated, remember this is a guy that most of the team thought could have played with them in the playoffs then he didn’t even travel with the team. Go ahead, hold out.
This is just circular logic. First, you don’t know the extent of his injury and the risk he was taking in playing. Most importantly, there is imminently less risk if the Ravens had made a long term commitment to him so it’s chicken or the egg. Good luck to the Ravens. Their choices if he holds out:
1. Pay him his fair market value (including percentage of contract guaranteed)
2. Have him count against their cap for 32.5 million while he doesn’t play and their season is DOA before camp
3. Remove the tag to free up 32.5 in cap and then Jackson is truly a free agent.

This is a game of chicken and both parties are taking risk. If Lamar signs the franchise tender he’s the only one taking the risk. If he’s my client I counsel him not to sign.

And I guarantee you he was offered a lot more money than they got. He wants it all guaranteed, not happening. And I would argue that he certainly can’t throw better than Jones, or Carr, or a lot of guys.
Then the Ravens should move on instead of hedging and holding him hostage.

Just because the browns were fn stupid doesn’t mean the rest of the league has to be. Anyone acting like he was screwed is being ridiculous. He’s not Mahomes, not close.

Ravens drafting a QB this year if the pick and player is right?
Would not surprise me, but they may have Jackson for 2 more years at a decent price.

I don’t care what they call it, they can’t let Cleveland screw every team in the league.
Yep especially since it was a unique circumstance unlike anything we have ever seen if I am being honest. Anyone that believe Watson gets this in a normal circumstance is crazy.

What you think and what I think doesn’t really matter. It’s the establishment of value. Whether you like it or not, the DeShawn Watson contract happened. That’s a precedent that sets the market. Look at the impact of the Christian Kirk overpay when he didn’t have stats to back up that signing. WR salaries exploded all over the league and it led to the trades and new contracts of Davante Adams and Tyreke Hill because they’re better than Christian Kirk. Jackson has won an MVP and isn’t an embarrassing rapist. On paper, he has greater value than Watson…again. These are facts that can’t be disputed. Jackson’s value in the market > Watson’s.

Ok let’s see what happens. I say the rest of the league doesn’t let this set the market.

Yeah that’s not the way it works.
Agreed. There isn’t a 50/50 Power dynamic in the NFL between owners and players. It’s the most slanted owner/player power dynamic in the league. It’s essentially 85/15 with too much of that 15 applying to QBs and other high high end players. For a guy who often hates the idea that players should get their share, you’ve gotta love this dynamic.

If owners act in collusion then sure. Does it look that way on the day where Daniel Jones gets 40 million a season going forward? Geno Smith 35 million? Derek Carr 37.5 million? Doesn’t look like these owners are holding the line.

Jacksonville had to overpay Kirk for him to come because Jacksonville is a shitty organization. It still impacted the rest of the market. Watson’s deal changed the rules.

I think they are though. Jackson can get a lot more than that right now, this minute. Kind of crap for you to just use the straight salary number when you know that’s not the holdup though .

So far it hasn’t in any way.
