The Tom Brady one has nothing to do with it. He's had that level of protection all along. In fact, the low blow that did force him to miss games resulted in a new rule against going low on QBs.
He was legitimately sacked in the same method that Tua was slung to the ground (only Brady didn't get his head slammed into the turf). Brady hasn't had that level of protection, this is a new one.

Yeah, definitely true that 1 call could make a much greater impact in an NFL game.

Just going off what I have been told by someone who did both at a high level.

And I have reffed enough basketball at low levels to understand how impossibly hard it is.
I've reffed low level basketball. Never football. sure, not as easy as many think.

No doubt night and say compared to baseball which is so easy if not the plate ump.

I will say now that they have the box up on every telecast what the zone is while umps will miss them on occasion they happen to be really good at getting them right, especially considering how many 95-100 mph pitches with movement are made in the game today.

The player himself is not trustworthy. Can you identify whether or not you've had a brain injury? And that's removing the aspect that most players want to return (and often feel they can, even if concussed).

I'm going off the "opinion" of every neurologist not employed by the NFL to back the shield.
You mean the guys whose opinion was formed from home and not with the player in front of them?

Such examples have been becoming more commonplace, for example for an obvious needed overrule in a catch/no catch situation that shouldn't necessitate a team to use one of their challenges.
I'm fine with that being done as it is with challenges as like has been pointed out I don't want to see every play up for review.

But maybe egregious penalties (called or not)?

I'm not going around and around with you on this. Find another target.

All I've said from the very beginning is the Browns are playing with a journeyman back up QB right now.

There's no going around and around with anything.

I've now told you the same thing multiple times.

There's no target here. You simply were wrong with what you said to me. But refuse to acknowledge it.

Dude's on his 4th team in 7 years being in the NFL. When Watson is back from suspension, there will be no controversy/QB competition. Brissett is your prototypical journeyman QB. Just someone that's +1 on your argument.

could happen but not sure how much it helps to do it now as would likely stay the same scheme. Get gashed by NE? Maybe that accelerates things.

He has multiple high draft picks tied up in the secondary and a dream scenario at DE and his defense sucks

He's kerry coombs running tuf borland for 4 years shitty

Basketball is the hardest imo

Exactly. And like I said in another comment if Watson was playing right now I think they'd be better than 2-3.

I think you for sure beat the Jets. Possibly beat the Chargers as well.

I think that's a fair thing to say.

Still think it's kinda weird that scumbag's return will be against the Texans. I remember PTI saying the NFL didn't want DW playing in that game in Houston. It's gonna make his return that much weirder. Think it's safe to say he'll be the most disliked player in the league by some fans. I'm not a fan of his.

I don't care about speeding up the game. Same with baseball (actually, especially with baseball).

You may not, but the data the NFL tracks tells them most people want faster games. So that's one of several things they are trying to address to attract the more casual fans.

They know that folks like us on these message boards aren't going anywhere, so they don't cater to us. They cater to the fans who will go find something else to do.

To be fair this seems to be something that can be done quickly. Play does not even need to be stopped if I understand the concept. IF they see an egregious call then they stop play to correct it. Hell, it could speed up the games as maybe teams would hurry to get the next play off.

Maybe. But it sure seems like the more things we have that are reviewable, the more delays we have and the longer some of those delays seem to be.

I'd actually be good with getting rid of reviews. I swear it seems like there was less bitching about the refs before reviews were a thing. lol

Many, maybe even most plays, can be reviewed pretty quickly. Those are when the ref says the call is confirmed or overturned.

The issue is the closer, "the call stands" reviews which often have to be broken down frame by frame and they still can't tell so they go with the call on the field. Some of those take forever and if you review every play, you're going to be reviewing more of those.

Heck, even overturned calls can take forever if they have to figure out ball placement and time on the clock.

The positioning of your argument could swing the other way - and yes, you probably could indicate if you've had a head injury or not. Especially if you're a football player that's played competitively for years.

I've had quite a few concussions.

(inb4 "That explains a lot")

I may not have always known I had a concussion, but I knew something was a bit off/fuzzy.
