I saw a suggested Dodgers trade of Gavin Lux and a handful of prospects. Not sure I like giving up Lux...but damn Soto is talented.
If they extend him, he sure is worth it but either way LA would be ok bc you get 2 1/2 years of him even if you don’t extend you beef up that lineup even more….a chance at a couple WS’s.

For other teams it makes less sense to trade for him if they don’t want to pay him bc they aren’t favorites and have immense talent already like the Dodgers

Yeah, the Dodgers would have the easiest time putting together the package the Nats want.

Haven't heard anything about them being interested though.

I almost never give a shit about uniform changes.

But that is really cool and should just be their permanent helmet.
That one and the Saints one are pretty cool. But I agree. In most cases you probably are better off without major changes...

Dodgers could deal for him- but would they really re-sign him and Trea Turner?

Even the Dodgers likely cant sign both---- and with Kershaw's age, Heaney on a 1 year deal, Anderson on 1 year deal......they really only have 2 starters for any kind of long term- Gonsolin and Urias....and as much as I think Gonsolin is good- I dont know if I am buying him being him as a top flight guy long term. This season seems like an outlier.

They already have tons of money in Betts and Freeman. Re-signing Turner, and then Soto- while obtaining pitching is outside of anyone's price range. Urias is going to have to get paid at some point too. Urias is on his 3rd year of arbitration next year- and then is a FA.

Guardians have the prospects- but would almost assuredly not sign him long term- but 2 and a half years is not bad for a "rental".

Guardians issue is they have tons of guys that either need to get put on the 40 man roster, or exposed to the Rule 5 draft. I think thats why they have been mentioned. If they dont trade some of these guys- they are just going to lose some of them.

for anyone that does not know--- the first 3 years of a MLB players career they get paid very little........basically league minimum......years, 4 , 5 and 6 they are arbitration eligible- which means an arbitration process determines their salaries- while these numbers are not "market" value- they can still get pretty high for a good player- especially in arbitration years 2 and 3.

so after 6 years of serviece time--- 3 as "renewable" years, and 3 as arbitration years- you become a free agent.

Williams, Valera, Arias, Jones, Gonzalez would prob. get it done.

would still leave the Guardians with Espino, Rocchio, Freeman, Noel and more........

really kind of intriguing.

Valera would hurt bad since he is prob. the best OF prospect the Guardians have had since Manny. Williams is also great. Arias is also a top 50 prospect-ish. Jones and Gonzalez are young guys that have shown major league success- and Jones once at one point a top 30 prospect.

that would be a ton to pay......but it would be interesting having Jose and Soto for 2 and a half years- and they still would keep Espino and Rocchio.

i am not a huge Arias fan. Jones has actually looked really good- so that would hurt- but with Kwan in left and Straw in center he is expendable.

I only do that if they intend of signing Soto long-term which doesn’t seem very likely

I would expect that there would be money going out. Justin Turner, Muncy and Bellinger will all be UFAs in 2024 which is the season before Soto does. But Trea Turner becomes a UFA this off season.

Maybe what you posted is why I haven't heard any reports of the Dodgers looking to get him?

So you just want teams to wear the same stinking uniforms from 1850?

Unless they actually improve them, yes. Does every team need to "butch up" by changing their predominant uniform color to black, lol?

The intelligence (or lack thereof) of choosing black as a main color in Arizona bears some investigation. I guess that roof stays closed during games with those black helmets? Do they play open air games at home ever?

Dodgers can just wait until the next team panics after extending him and get him then a la Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman.

Gonsolin's first complete season as a starter (and an all-star) is an outlier, even though none of his stats are really outliers compared to previous (if abbreviated) seasons?
