To me it was something they had to do. #1 overall pick that made two PB's. I don't think he is a top QB but they revamped the offense and this is a win now team. If you don't pay him then you start over. It's not easy to find the guy at QB-even if he isn't elite he is still a top 10 QB. Herbert, Burrow and Jackson will get huge contracts to make this one look a bit better. You are always going to overpay.
You mentioned Chubb and he’s a great back but for me, he’s just as much a product of an elite offensive line. I personally would not pay a guy like that. Respect his game for sure just a philosophical difference when it comes to that position.

For me, the only time you invest in a 2nd contract for a RB is if he is an exceptional pass catching option. Those guys are hard to replace. But everyone else is interchangeable. There are always tons of solid backs in every draft that can tote the rock cheaply. It’s become a plug and play position unless you can find a Kamara type that will be a threat as a receiver.

Yeah, it sucks for running backs. If you have a really good one and pay him like it on that 2nd contract, unless he's a good receiver as well, it's almost always a bad contract in the final couple of seasons.

With how these things go, it won't last long.
Exactly. Say what ya will about the watson deal and being all guaranteed. Murray deal is pretty much 4 years, $160 mil guaranteed so not much worse than 5 and $230 mil......and as you say, just wait until others get extended (like Burrow and Herbert)

I get what you are saying because of position, but not like he got some crazy deal even at $10 mil per. That said, gonna be hard to keep Hunt if he wants to be paid and I believe he will.

I just think that paying RBs puts a franchise on the fast track to cap problems.
It can but depends on everything else. Might be wrong but think the Browns this year will pay their RBs close to $20 mil.....and have nearly $50 mil in cap room. Yeah, helps not having a QB getting big money.

The Cardinals are going to regret paying him.

He's not that good. I think Hopkins has made him look better than he actually is.
I usually say the QBs make the WRs but you may be right in this case.

Yeah, they gave that crazy contract to their TE instead... :trash:

Not sure I buy that. They have a RB that they turned down the 5th year option for, which hurts that group overall. Adams/Waller/Renfro is strong. Depth at WR beyond the top 2 is Cole and not much else. Moreau is a solid backup TE. Curious to see what Zamir White can bring.

QB isn't a skill position, lol?

I think they might be top 3.

Thing is, teams that build around non-QB skill positions don’t tend to do very well.

You look at the top teams in the league and they often have good skill players, but the best assets on the best teams are usually:

QB, OL or DL

It could be debated that he is top 10.
Yeah borderline, seems like more 11-12 range.

Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes, Allen, Stafford, Wilson, Herbert, Burrow, Watson, Dak - probably the top 10 in some order

He is probably just outside the top 10 with Carr

Anyone been watching the espn show on Derek Jeter? I’ve enjoyed the first 2 episodes.

I saw that this morning. I'm thinking it is one of those bars that is made to bend. I believe it's a tsunami bar. He did 675 earlier this summer

Seems excessive for someone under contract. Get that news item ready for when he has a knee strain this season.
