Surprising, since the most recent signee is usually 1st. Baltimore has the numbers they need to beat now.I’m still digesting the fact that Kyler Murray is the 2nd highest paid QB

ESPN's Bill Barnwell has the Raiders as the 2nd best skill position players.
Defined as WR/RB/TE.
Jacobs will have a strong year with something to prove for the Raiders.....and they can still re-sign him.Not sure I buy that. They have a RB that they turned down the 5th year option for, which hurts that group overall. Adams/Waller/Renfro is strong. Depth at WR beyond the top 2 is Cole and not much else. Moreau is a solid backup TE. Curious to see what Zamir White can bring.
QB isn't a skill position, lol?

Cole is a solid #3. Robinson is a capable #4.
For me, the only time you invest in a 2nd contract for a RB is if he is an exceptional pass catching option. Those guys are hard to replace. But everyone else is interchangeable. There are always tons of solid backs in every draft that can tote the rock cheaply. It’s become a plug and play position unless you can find a Kamara type that will be a threat as a receiver. He's the definition of league average. He's not getting anywhere near that $8M 5th year option that was declined.

Jacobs helped us down the stretch and get into the playoffs. He had also 54 receptions last season. I was surprised they turned down his option but we could still bring him back if he has a really good season. For me, the only time you invest in a 2nd contract for a RB is if he is an exceptional pass catching option. I just think that paying RBs puts a franchise on the fast track to cap problems.Jacobs helped us down the stretch and get into the playoffs. He had also 54 receptions last season. I was surprised they turned down his option but we could still bring him back if he has a really good season.
You could say paying QB's puts a franchise on the fast track to cap issues when guys like Murray get paid.I just think that paying RBs puts a franchise on the fast track to cap problems.
Agreed. If you invest in the wrong guy, it can be crippling because of the going rate for that position. Just saw a tweet today where the annual average salary of Murray’s deal (46 mil / season) is more than the entire payroll of the Oakland A’s haha. You could say paying QB's puts a franchise on the fast track to cap issues when guys like Murray get paid.
The Cardinals are going to regret paying him.Agreed. If you invest in the wrong guy, it can be crippling because of the going rate for that position. Just saw a tweet today where the annual average salary of Murray’s deal (46 mil / season) is more than the entire payroll of the Oakland A’s haha.

I hear where you’re coming from. I’m still in the middle. I think the kid has a unique set of gifts. Of all these dual threat guys, I think his skill set is on par with Russell Wilson. I think he’s a better passer than Lamar and other dual threat guys. And there’s no shame in needing help at the QB position of a true number 1. Would Peyton Manning have been Peyton Manning without the talent he had at WR?The Cardinals are going to regret paying him.
He's not that good. I think Hopkins has made him look better than he actually is.
Not just a pass catcher but an every down type of back that can block as well. It's a mixed bag but I think pass catching is a great trait to have as a RB in today's gameFor me, the only time you invest in a 2nd contract for a RB is if he is an exceptional pass catching option. To me it was something they had to do. #1 overall pick that made two PB's. I don't think he is a top QB but they revamped the offense and this is a win now team. If you don't pay him then you start over. It's not easy to find the guy at QB-even if he isn't elite he is still a top 10 QB. Herbert, Burrow and Jackson will get huge contracts to make this one look a bit better. You are always going to overpay. The Cardinals are going to regret paying him.

Doubt it. No risk move. He's the 2nd or 3rd string QB. I doubt he amounts to much but did see some stats that surprised me. Any idea who these are?So he is ready to prove he belongs in Cleveland?
I used to be there with you on pass pro but because the college game has caught up to the pass happy NFL, these rookies are coming in more adept at pass pro than ever before. Pass pro used to be the biggest skill that would keep young backs off the field. If I’m running a franchise, my plan is to draft 3 RBs every 4 drafts. I try and stagger them to create a 3 headed monster and share the reps almost evenly. That way you keep them statistically cheap and you don’t put too much wear on the tires. If you hit on that “special” back you still have the flexibility to make that investment. For me special is Kamara. Special is not Derrick Henry or Leonard Fournette types. Those guys get expensive and at some point their career and production will fall off a cliff. Not just a pass catcher but an every down type of back that can block as well. RB's that got a 2nd contract
Zeke, Cook, Cmac, Ekeler - great pass catching options
Henry, Chubb, Mixon, Aaron Jones - Mixon and Aaron jones are far from great pass catchers but better than Henry/Chubb.
