I said all week that we suck and would lose to the Browns. I was wrong and had to make sure I came back to "Man up" as Jwill would say.

What I liked:

Dalton threw with much better accuracy than I saw in the preseason. Still not sold on him at all though........

Pass rush in the 1st and 4th quarters.

no turnovers

Gresham is a stud

only 3 penalties

The sneak attack play that gave us the lead. That shit usually only happens to us!!!!
Defense in general

What I didn't like:

Pass rush disapeared in the 2nd and 3rd quarters

Lack of coverage on opossing TE....as always

Jerome Simpson sucks

A quality back up QB would be nice

O-line looked suspect

I fucking hate Denver. I'm on board. lets kick their ass next week.

Also eating crow this morning......they may yet be as bad as I feared all along, but early returns are much better than expected......I find it hilarious, though, that Kramer referred to Dalton as a "limp wristed Nancy" given the injury he came down with......as for the schedule, many more games now look winnable, especially over the next six weeks or so........:smash:

J-Will asked if we'd still be here after predicting a loss..... I'm still here. As I said in an earlier post, I was pleasantly surprised by the effort. They didn't look as ridiculous as the normal Marvin Lewis team does. Hopefully we can keep it up.

It should be noted however that Cleveland played awful. I'm don't think we can expect every team on our schedule to play with the type of ineptitude that Cleveland demonstrated most of the day.

Let's be real, the Bengals are bad. Cleveland played like a JV team, yet we were still lucky to take advantage. Fortunately for us, the next 5-6 games are also against Cleveland type teams.

I won't "eat crow" even when we're sitting at 5-1 or 4-2 going into the bye. Why? Because after we get passed this fool's gold early schedule and the jwill types are running around screaming "I told you so" and everyone is back on the bandwagon, we're still going to finish the season 6-10 or 7-9. And the Bengals we all envisioned before the season began will be staring us in the face.

No reason to get ahead of ourselves (*edit: unless you're a Cam Newton fan).

Several of our next five or six opponents could rival that ineptitude......

one thing not mentioned was our run defense, which might be really good this year. Our first team shut down teams in the preseason and the trend continues against Cleveland. Hopefully a sign of things to come...

I think it is a very good thing that we got the circus out of town. Will we be world beaters? no, but we might be building something here. Definitely, we will win more games. Our defense, and as long as Ced doesn't get hurt, will keep us in most games.... I don't think 6 to 8 wins is unreasonable.....

What is unreasonable, are those that said 0 - 2 wins before even allowing to watch the first official game of the year...... they will look bad at predicting by year's end.... if not already.

The only "circus" that was around was Chad and TO. I'd kill to have Palmer back right now. We'd actually have a shot at the playoffs.

As constructed, this is a bottom tier team. We might just be at the top of the bottom tier, so no, 2 win predictions were not unreasonable.

that was the "circus" I was referring to, lol!!! who do you think I was talking about?

no, the Palmer of old would of given us a shot at the playoffs, but not this current one. He has not been the same since Kimo rolled him....Palmer is mediocre now, I don't want him back except maybe to trade him for a draft choice.... if someone does not want to be on my team, I DON'T WANT HIM here.....

I hope you are kidding, if you are really trying to say that having someone on a team that DOES NOT want to be there would be good in any way, shape or form.... you are just flat out wrong....

and yes, to say 2 wins before watching the first game was rediculous, and is being illustrated now IMO.... we lost 7 games last year by 7 points or less, and during the offseason have seen nothing but praise from Zim.... an improved defense will keep us in games, an easier schedule and with Ced being the feature again.... we should actually be in most games this year....

6 to 8 wins, I've been saying this all along.....

.

Meh...I thought it was solid but not spectacular. More like Cleveland shooting themselves in the foot and putting our D in a better position to stop the run. Don't get me wrong I was happy with the effort. Just wasn't one of the things that really stood out to me. Maybe because it was solid all preseason.

While I still don't think this team is going to win more than 5 games, I have to admit I enjoy watching/rooting for these young guys who play hard and leave it all on the field.

I've seen some refer to Carson as part of the "circus". I was just making sure.

The 2009 Palmer, who wasn't very good except for some amazing 4th quarter drives, could carry this team to the playoffs. He did it in 2009. He's the missing piece for the offense. And the fact that he doesn't want to be here doesn't make him any less talented or make him any worse a QB.

Sure, last season we lost 7 games by 7 points or less, but when you account for:

1) Losing Palmer
2) Starting a rookie 2nd round QB despite a shortened offseason
3) Brand new offense
4) Losing Joseph who many considered a big "glue" guy for the offense

it really isn't that unreasonable to have expected a less than stellar season.

*Edit*

BTW, "Ced being the feature again" doesn't really mean anything. He sucked in 2009. He sucked more in 2010. I'd be surprised if he didn't suck in 2011 as well.

good one Restore, that is exactly how I feel! it is very enjoyable to watch the young guys give 110%.... agree completely..

Peyton Hillis had 17 rushes for what, about 3.5? and 1/3 of that was on 1 run... that's more than just Cleveland shooting themself IMO... lets hope this continues...

Oh, and Nelson and Howard are looking like dam good pickups. Rey in the middle played well, lets see where this goes....

man, if we can beat Denver....

I'm not sure how anyone could be impressed with Benson. I guess the fact that he didn't fumble is a positive. Other than the game clinching TD run where cleveland sold out because of the game situation, Benson had an extremely mediocre day against a sub-par run D. Add in the fact that he is non existant as a reciever out of the backfield and a less than stellar human off the field.

Yup I'm pretty sure I hate him.

how many times have we had someone on this team who "didn't want to be here?".... and are you really standing by your statement it didn't make a difference... do I really need to recount here???

please

it "the situation" becomes a cancer in the locker room, dividing it, and screwing up any team chemistry. totally naive if you don't think it will matter IMO..... we won the first game, we have young hungry players, we don't need an overpaid QB who is mid level at best now..... and does not want to be in Cincinnati......

hmmm, didn't Ced have more yards than almost every RB Sunday? and got the game sealer... look, its okay to root and praise lol......

cmon you can do it, maybe its been too long..... just take your hands, clap them together.... say "Good job Bengals and Good job Ced".....

there, wasn't that better? kidding of course, but no matter what is said, it was a strong performance by Ced... the running game kept pounding the front, and in the 4th quarter his run sealed it..... good job.....

yes we should give Brian Leonard more reps!

one, we don't want to wear out CB and

two, he handles the ball better than Scott.....

ur probably not replying directly to me, but just wanted to contribute, Ced is the best ground pounder we have, and it is not fair to subtract his big run from the overall performance, but this is the w/c offense, It might be high time to get Leonard involved somehow, screen passes, 2 back sets, seems he makes good things happen.

forgive my run on sentence.

Until the big run he had what 23-24 carries for about 80 yards.....

He does nothing for me. Would love to see leonard as the starter. Atleast he doesn't pout when things are not going his way.....

Yes I cheered loudly when Ced scored. Doesn't mean I have to like him though.
