I'm starting to feel the same way about Robles. He's hitting .161 in August. He's looking more and more like the guy who hit a collective .216 from 2020-2022 seasons in DC.

Whole problem with him at the moment is you could easily just say he is in a mini slump, but then also say everything leading up to his extension was a hot streak.

what good does that do this franchise in the short or long term? give me one thing. anything anybody says to answer that in a positive light will sound like the same dogshit that would come out of stanton's own mouth.

the way i see it, servais only gets canned if dipoto okays it (i'll explain why in a bit). if it happens, it will have zero impact on the team this year and beyond, but it'll be an easy PR boost for owners to continue deflection from themselves for as long as they can. so fire him for all the fucks i give. makes zero difference in any substantive way. i just don't like giving the real source of our misery a PR win of any kind, but i acknowledge its inevitability.

but they'll want to hold onto dipoto to continue to be the target of fantasy baseball nerds i mean m's social media influencers for as long as they can because if they're both canned at the same time or in short order, our dipshit fan base will turn their full ire to stanton and company where it belongs. owners don't want that, and dipoto is smart enough to know that, so he really has quite a bit of control here. and i don't think dipoto is in favor of becoming more of a whipping boy to social media than he already is.

the m's aren't making the playoffs, but again, dipoto knows they can't fire him until a lot closer to the end of the regular season or offseason. i think he'll resign before that happens. my guess is by november or december, he'll be with a top 10 market team that wants to prioritize farming pitching. a big question for me is if he wants to take servais with him in some capacity. if so, he's probably told the front office something along the lines of "If he goes, I go", again, for both of the reasons I pointed out above.
