if R Kansas is on the list, missouri should be.. that is all

I wouldn't even have Ourkinsaw on the list either.

On their behalf, Ourkinsaw has a NC, won SWC titles, has Texas and SEC recruiting exposure, make pig noises, and are not competing against the KC Chiefs/Royals and St Louis Rams/Cardinals for fan support.

IMHO Texas and ND are head and shoulders above all on this one. With all the $ and four and five star players those schools get, they should be on top year after year but haven't been close in quite a while.

I think Illinois belongs on the list more than Missouri. Illinois has an EXCELLENT athletic tradition in other sports, they pretty much should own Chicago but don't. Plus the Illini have been dreadful for most of the past 4 decades.

Until most recently, Texas has had a lot of success.

Illinois and Missouri may have a population base but they seem to lack football talent. And for Illinois the Chicago area is more ND than Illini fans from my experience and most talent there used to end up at ND.

Yeah, but the football culture at Illinois is crap. Nobody cares, even when they are passable. The schools that truly underachieve, IMO, are schools with passionate fan bases and good opposition who just can't seem to make that next step.

If I were to single out one underachieving program, it would be TAMU. They've always been in a great conference, have a fan base that is in the top ten, and are in a great geographic position. In the last twelve season, they've been ranked once in the postseason polls. I'm sorry, but that is pretty inexcusable.

Nebraska used to take some of the better players out of Missouri. Not so much anymore tho.

Notre Dame, Michigan, and to a lesser extent, Iowa, Ohio State, and Wisconsin, tend to dominate Chicagoland recruiting. If any one school could control recruiting in Chicagoland, they could definitely be a competitor on the national scale.

 They don't need facilities, just a giant pool with coeds in bikinis

Chase Rome, Michael Rose, just got a Zach Hannon commit(will be a 4* OG), Will Compton, and King Frazier walked on..

But there never seemed to be all that much talent in Missouri...and for being the most populous state in the old Big 8 they never really did anything.

Agreed. The U of Missouri has always played second fiddle to the pro teams in the state. Decent players went elsewhere.

Yeah, when the Cardinals are making a run for the playoffs or back before that to the World Series, I can see why Columbia can't compete. :D

It's really about putting butts in seats and selling team aparrel, merchandise, collectibles, etc..

I can't speak much for St Louis, but in KC it's Chiefs, Chiefs, Chiefs, and Royals logos everywhere.
