Why? You lose the respect of every other player on the team when they see a guy who can't play getting in the game. I am stunned that there are any Tebow apologists left, not sure what more they need to see.

Tebow embarrass himself with the Mets?

I should have added one more to this poll of things most likely to happen.. "this thread turns into an argument about Tebow".... we'd have a clear winner.

I'm not a big fan of him or his move but he should not be black balled IMO. He was exercising his rights and black balling him will only increase the divide in a divided nation.
the major thing is he cant play as a starter and he wants to much money . his politcs is a factor but not much . if he was a star they would hire him

1- Slaveryin the US lasted under 75 years. Slavery in America, as you are referring to it, started before the Incas.

2- By and large, where do most blacks live? They live in large cities where they are an extraordinarily large part of the population. So they must be treated as second class citizens by other blacks. Or are you saying the government treats them as second class citizens, where I would ask, how?

gkekoa, I think anyone could be convinced that Kap SHOULD have expressed his views and protest,
at a different time
Obviously, when he did it -- it affected the team, and many others whether they wanted to be involved or not.
You are a smart guy, and you do your homework -- you should know that slavery hasn't left the biggest scar on blacks in this country. You are aware of how others were treated when it came to schools, jobs, relationships, how they were assaulted, robbed, and brainwashed to feel about themselves. This was considered OK, not to teach, serve, or hire someone based on their skin. Too stupid, too lazy...etc. You might even be old enough to know the history of our football team with blacks. Now obviously the athletes in this generation, probably have never been followed around in a radio shack, or have been told a diner is too full to serve with NO ONE in it...but you can poll any black person on this site that is 30+ and they can give you a personal experience or family experience.

I think Kap's biggest concern in his protest was the misuse of force by police against motorist, and how nothing is being done about. Again, probably NOT the best time to speak on this matter, but that's our opinion.
I jumped in this super duper late, just my thoughts. No hard feelings here - respect

it will be interesting to see how it plays out. We don't know how much money he wants, he got out of the SF deal before they cut him not because he thought he could do better. Like all athletes as much as he can get I suppose and there is nothing wrong with that. And like all athletes he clearly thinks he is better than he is. But if he is not on a roster by mini-camp in a league that gave millions to Chase Daniels I think it's clear we have a Ray Rice situation.

I could see Kaepernick being black balled for a year or basically being a 3rd stringer for a year and then resurfacing to a starting role. I think, that other teams don't want to risk the backlash and distractions that the media will bring with him on the roster as a potential starter. In a sense, he committed career suicide, but I don't think he cared. He is courageous, if nothing else.

IM going to say that Griffin probably gets a call before Kap does. I actually agree with what he was trying to do. It is sad that he is being black balled for this. But Im not surprised. The people who cant understand how or why he was doing it are likely the same types who think Police are now wearing Body Cameras for their own protection and not to help protect the public from overzealous members of law enforcement.

I wasn't a fan of the move at all. I mean we all get what is going on. It's not as if Kaep suddenly made us aware of the problem, it's all over the news and we have all seen every one of the incidents 10 times already.

I'm kind of a big fan of the National Anthem. I don't think it should be used as a tool to further your cause whatever it may be.

Didnt say i agree with how he did it But I do agree that its a conversation that needs to be had and not swept under the table again. Fact is, this country has alot of dirt in its past. And we see alot of moves designed to blur history to make things seem not quite as bad as they actually were. I think people on all sides of these historical atrocities need to be reminded, not to instill some form of racial guilt mind you. But more to remind us that its way too easy to slip back into old habits, and just maybe to help prevent us from slipping into the old racist ways just with a new preferred target group.

That he can play as a starter and that NFL teams dont usually hesitate to throw money at shitty QBs.
brock osweilers salary determines that ? kaep is awful as a starter and has no future as one niether does brock

There are plenty of guys you dont want starting that make solid backups. There are not enough starters to go around. IO think he has been painted into a corner of his own making. But let a few QBs end up with season ending injuries between now and Sept, his phone will ring.

It means teams teams throw money at QBs. And kaep was 17th in the league in passer rating with the worst roster in the league plus nearly 500 yards rushing in 11 starts. Hes not Joe Montana but hes a top 32 QB in the league and worlds better than the Ryan Fitzpatricks and Brock Osweilers of the world who have been getting paid.

You must not have been a Redskins fan when John Beck played a bit for the Redskins. :D

Or Tim Hasselback and his 0.00 rating for a game. He did have a good looking wife though.

Sorry. Had to work. Let me clarify some of my thoughts.

1- Kaepernick may be getting blackballed but we can't prove that, YET. This is how FA works and we don't know how much money he is asking for. Until last season, Kaepernick had gotten worse each season. He cannot throw the football accurately, and his legs are all he has. If Kaepernick does not have a job by the time FA ends, yes he is getting blackballed. Ray Rice did get blackballed.

2- It is obvious I do not like CK. I don't mind a protest; however, this was the way wrong platform. He has a right to kneel, and his employer has a right to fire him. He is not brave for taking this stance. Brave would be giving up his money for his cause. He also needs to research his actual cause. CK was protesting the national anthem because he thought the 2nd stanza was racist because it mentioned slaves. It would not have taken much to learn the 2nd stanza was referring to the British taking American seamen and forcing them to work on British ships..."hireling and slave." Mercenaries and US seamen. If he had simply used his platform to discuss sentencing discrepencies, I would have had no problem. Because those are at least based in fact.

3- Yes, I understand blacks have been mistreated by the US government in the past. Yes, I understand there are scars from that. Yes, I understand there may be a few on here that are "a little longer in the tooth" and may have experienced some of these issues. That being said, there is not a single piece of legislation in America today that aims to hurt blacks...there are pieces of legislation that are written to directly help blacks, which is equally wrong. Equality under the law...we are not all equal. For those who are offended by a perception of being treated unequally, others are offended by being accused of treating people unequally. Why are you right, and we are wrong? Here is a novel idea...do your best in life and surround yourself with good people. Get married...stay married...raise your children...follow the law. This isn't a statement on blacks...that is a statement for all people because married couples have greater wealth and children raised in two parent families have greater success. All races have gone down in this aspect.

4- As for Tebow, I am not an apologist. Had I been Cleveland, I would have given Tebow a chance. I would also have given CK a chance, minus the kneeling thing. I have no idea why or how Tebow wins. I would have loved to see him go to Cleveland because if he can win there, wouldn't that have to be from God? Do I think he was a good QB? No. Do I think he was a winner? Yes, somehow. The Broncos were 1-4 with Orton, the same defense. The Broncos were 7-4 with Tebow. Why couldn't they win with Orton? The Jets were horrible when he was there and so were the Eagles. I would have given him a shot. Then again, I would have given Colt Brennan a shot here when Jason Campbell proved to be a failure.

Citizenship is a 24/7 job, it comes with birth or the oath that one takes to become counted as one. What makes it hard work has little to do with the benefits that we are afforded, but, with the charge that despite our objections we stand in defense of even those who do objectionable things. Not illegal things we have laws against those things, but those things that shake us at a core level. Someone here wrote that 90% of fans attending Kaep's games found his stance objectionable, they have that right, but I, a citizen who has worn the uniform and took lives in defense of this nation stand against that 90%. I do so, not because they don't have a right to voice their objections, but when they do they fail citizenship 101 when their objections forces an action that punishes those who speak out against injustice and human rights violations no matter the venue.
