I think the SF organization put up a front that they didn't mind his protest of basically spitting on the flag before the all important regular season games each week. If they didn't mind it he would still be on the team since he really was their best option... yet his gone. What team wants some dick stepping on the flag to the country that made them rich in the first place.... made Kaep rich for that matter. Who wants a player on their team where 90 percent of the fans don't agree with his stance. Hows that gonna bode. He's to much of a distraction. The only way he finds a team is if he tells them he is done shitting on the flag. I believe he's done. Once a bridge is burned there's no getting back cross the river easy. Just like Ray Rice... who wants the headaches.

Well he opted out so him not being in SF doesn't say anything. And I'm curious where you're getting that 90% of fans don't agree with him. Not that it matters. It's about supporting his right to say it.

And comparing him to ray rice? Yeesh.

The only reason it bothered any one is because he was in a position of visibility and chose to point out a part of this countries ugly past (and present) that some portion of the population would sooner forget. Its sad really when people say, just get over it when the actions or ideals he was protesting still affect us as a society today. And he is being blackballed because he chose to point something out.

The reason it bothers people is you are protesting the US while making millions. When you protest the flag, you are protesting America today...not the past.

He said he was protesting the anthem because it was racist. That is horse shit. Not every time the word slave is used does it refer to slavery in the US. Slavery in the US lasted less than 75 years and blacks were not the only slaves and blacks were slave owners.

The reason I have a problem with the slavery discussion is people blame white people for slavery. Well, blacks that were slaves in the US, were slaves in Africa. Hell, slavery still exists in Northern Africa.

What still affects us today?

I'd love to hear the 32 guys better than him. Dude had a 91 passer rating on the least talented roster in the league. He's not nearly as bad as some make him out to be.

People are also forgetting, the Niners didnt cut him. He opted out of his contract. Now I do agree he is being blackballed more for his political kneel than over some idea that he is less talented than some of the guys currently penciled in as starters.

I am not a pro football player and I work for great people but we are all told when we start to be careful not to embarrass the company while using social media etc.

There are lots who supported Kaep but there were lots that took exception to what he was doing. Different circumstance but in the end the same thing happened to Ray Rice and he apologized and more if I remember correctly.

The same thing did not happen to ray rice. Ray rice was an asshole and punched somebody. Kaep stood up for something he believed and a bunch of people took offense.

He has a right to say whatever...but when he says it in uniform, he has no recourse when fired.

Very few people agree with him and his ignorant pompous ass.

How do you know so few agree?

Secondly he wasn't fired.

Third I'm not saying he has to be employed. But you said he got what he deserves which is ridiculous. Dude tried to stand up for something he believes in. You don't have to agree that he's right or in his stance but don't shit on the just because you don't like what he has to say about your country.

Ray Rice is being black balled. There is no question to that.

Ray Rice punched somebody. Clearly Kaep touched a nerve with some people but what he did isn't even close to similar.

1. Slavery in America lasted 245 years.
2. Ideals set during slavery still persist in todays America, where people of color are by and large treated as second class citizens.

1- how do you know so many agree? See how that works?

2- So he wasn't fired. What is the big deal?

3-why is it ridiculous? I will shit on people who don't like this country. I fought for this country. If you don't like this country...get the hell out. He has a right to speak and people have a right to speak against him.

Look up black balled. Ray Rice served his punishment. He now can't get a job because of the crime. That is black balled. Ray Rice punched a woman who was assaulting him.

1. No I don't see how that works because I'm not making claims about how many people agree. You are. You should support that claim if you're going to make it.

2. No big deal. Just clarifying. Like shark said some people seem to think he was released.

3. You can dislike what he said/did all you want but claiming he deserves to have his career ruined because he stood up for something is ridiculous.

He was sticking up for something he believes in. And I'm pretty sure the organization didn't mind.

He is not being black balled because he sucks. Comparing him to Tebow is laughable. Tebow was probably the worst QB ive ever seen play. Kaepernick is a top 32 qb in the league. Not saying he's great but he's a way better option than anything a lot of teams have.
Agreed that comparing Tebow to Kaepernick is laughable - one can't play QB, and one can't. But I'm going to give most NFL teams the benefit of the doubt here because Kaep doesn't fit real well in a typical NFL drop-back offense.
Fwiw, I didn't agree with probably 90% of what Kaep said, but I respect the way he protested - and that he said he won't be doing it this year.

I'm aware of both what happened and what the term means. It's still a shitty comparison. Is tom brady similar to ray rice because he makes political statements too?

1- I did the make the claim but I would say it is likely accurate. I would use social media to support that. When you openly disagree with another person's claim, are you not making a claim yourself?

3- Why is it ridiculous? Did he not expect backlash? Did he not know there could be repercussions? To be honest, I think he deserves worse. Maybe you are right, he didn't get what he deserves.

Ray Rice also wasn't very good in his last season and was over the age that most RB's are basically done.

Did Brady make political statements in uniform?

I never compared Rice to Kaep.

Dude.. are you seriously hinting that it was OK because America as a country only did it for 75 years??

And hell yes the government enforces policies that treat people of color as second class every day. We have been over this before.
