Well, no doubt the generalizations aren't fair on a personal level and there are almost always exceptions. But let's be honest here. If Vegas was giving odds on the intelligence and academics of the Vanderbilt football team vs. any other SEC team, who do you think would win? It's pretty absurd in my opinion to relish in the domination of Alabama football for decades over Vanderbilt and then start getting whiny about Vandy student athletes thinking they're smarter than everyone else. Especially when they generally are.

While that might be true, Roland and I have Mathematics degrees from Auburn and Alabama. Just because some rich kid gets his degree in American Studies, Humanities, etc. from Vandy doesn't make him smarter than either one of us. However, this is the mentality that many have graduating out of there, or even not graduating there.

Summed up rather nicely and succinctly; those rich kids also have to pass certain criteria just to get into Vanderbilt. Lots of intelligent people go to state schools, for a whole host of reasons. The average Vanderbilt student has higher SAT/ACT scores, GPA, and likely the majority of other metrics used for college admissions than other SEC schools. Don't mistake my pointing out a misconception as trashing state-schools; I went to two myself.

Ahem.

I don't think the chasm is as wide as you might think with recent additions to the SEC.

Why do you go on and use a generalization with the rest of your statement? Did you even read what I wrote?

Besides, I said nothing about the football teams or the student athletes. I know that Vandy has the highest graduation rate in the SEC.

I agree with what you said and wasn't referring to you. But that said, your point is pretty narrow: not every single student at Vanderbilt is smarter than every other student of Auburn and Alabama. Whose going to argue with that?

It just annoys the hell out of me when an arrogant fan of a dominant SEC football program wants to rub our face in the total domination and then tell us we're no smarter than their student athletes. Come on. :rolleyes2:

Oh okay.

I can agree with the second part. Vandy leads the SEC in graduating football players with 85% graduated last season. There is really nothing to argue there, Vandy > Bama. in football player academics. Looking at the numbers I'm surprised that LSU is in second followed by Florida and Bama.

Easy to graduate more players when the NFL doesn't want them :behindsofa:

I lived in Lexington for two years and UK fans think their basketball prowess gives them the right to mouth off and make excuses about football. When they win, they rub it in your face and when they lose it doesn't matter because they're a basketball school.

I'm happy to say I've never met a Kansas fan that way. We enjoyed when we upset them in basketball and they when they upset NU in football, but it was mutually agreed they sucked at football and NU at basketball.
