Phillies couldn’t get him going. He wasn’t playing everyday but he was given quite a few ABs every week.

This is set up perfectly for Whitfield McTrashCan to become another Eddie Rosario. Rosario is a hot trash but in a Braves uniform he was second coming of Carl Yastrzemski.
Exactly. Even more annoying because the Phils are paying most of his salary. And he had a real low Babip so in theory he's due to turn it around.

With Kershaw and Glasnow returning to pitch later this week, LAD has DFA’d James Paxton. He’s sure to at least get them a DSL flier or two from another club.

Cubs are ‘prioritizing 2025 and beyond’ whatever that means. Their rental players are uninspiring. They do have a lot of good starting pitching, and if I had to bet, Taillon is probably on the table given his age and reasonable contract to get some offensive improvement coming back to them.

Bellinger could be someone that gets dealt but the acquiring team is going to have to pay him. Same thing with Happ.

At this point, does Bellinger opt out? At his current production that’s a tough contract to assume. Maybe there is an agreement that he opts out of it.

I could see Bellinger going in a seller’s market. Because of his money, an acquiring team likely can go a little short on prospects sent out.

This is not at all where I thought they would be poking around.

France,Hiura DFA. Mountcastle and Mullins available to be Traded.
I don’t think they find a taker for Mullins, but Mountcastle with a contract with control means they could be poking around a team like Seattle that needs hitting and has pitching depth.

Why they don’t want to trade many of their top prospects is that I am already guessing Santander is not being brought back, and that Mullins and Hays are in danger of being non-tendered.

Going all-in this year, probably means Painter and Miller are available at least for Crochet with his control.. We know Dombrowski loves to trade his prospects.
Wheeler Nola Suarez get two starts a piece in a 7 game series. I don’t get it. I think they need a RH bat with pop corner OF so they can platoon Marsh/Rojas in CF. I also think they need a closer. I think they lack a guy with ice water in the veins who can take the ball in the 9th inning and execute under pressure. And I would want another arm for the pen depth as well. I’m not averse to giving up Painter Miller Crawford or anybody. I just want fit and control going forward. Guys like Roberts and Mason Miller have control going forward.

I admit, I would be looking at Roberts and Miller as well if I was the Phillies, but I wonder if they think they can’t plug Crochet into the bullpen role for the rest of the year, and then turn him back around into a starter. Or, some sort of load management to get everyone into the playoffs healthy.

Then again, why not just trade for the guy currently closing and then turn him around next year?

Maybe Roberts and Crochet, or maybe the ‘cheaper route’ and Pham and Crochet.

I think Crochet is a talent and I think Phillies pitching coach Caleb Cotham is one of the best. Would. Not. Hate. It. I just think that if they’re making moves to enhance this club, starter is on the back end of the need list.

Dodgers and Yankees interested in good ol’ Dick Mountain himself, as Rich Hill is sticking to his plan of a mid-season return.

Is the trade market heating up?

The slow build up to the trade deadline has continued into the early part of this week, but it’s possible things are finally starting to heat up. According to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun Times, White Sox GM Chris Getz believes the trade market has “come alive” in recent days with “more meaningful” conversations. Getz added that while he expects most deals to get done closer to the deadline, he “wouldn’t be surprised” if some trades started to occur as soon as today. Getz, of course, has plenty of say in what happens this summer as the baseball operations leader of one of the league’s few true sellers. The White Sox have stars Garrett Crochet and Luis Robert Jr. to dangle, but those are hardly their only trade chips. Names like Erick Fedde, Tommy Pham, Michael Kopech, Paul DeJong, John Brebbia, Chris Flexen, and Mike Clevinger will all be in play in the coming days. But just more rumors or like Blue Jays say keeping 2 Starters at moment so far today.
