Seriously what is the point of this from the Pirates perspective. I get it from Rich's perspective getting a nice payday but from the Pirates not so much.
I think they can contend for a playoff spot this year with him. Probably a few years from really challenging LAD/SD though. But he has one year of control and doesn’t match th ari window

2023 ZiPS Projections: Arizona Diamondbacks
I swear, the Diamondbacks did not sponsor these projections!blogs.fangraphs.com
They just keep signing 'em!
The greatest compliment he has ever received. If only his mother were still alive to witness this moment.Unfortunately, Angel Hernandez is a product of the Umpire's union. He can't be fired, nor can he be forced to retire. His work is not exemplary.
Wow. Per Jeff Passan:
BREAKING: Shortstop Carlos Correa and the Minnesota Twins are finalizing a six-year, $200 million contract, sources tell ESPN. The deal has a vesting option that can max out at $270 million. It is pending physical.
What a mess. Giants to Mets to Twins. Overall, I couldn't be more happy. Correa is a very good player but he isn't worth that money imo. Glad the Twins spent on him.Wow. Per Jeff Passan:

Giants medical team deserves medals. No one else saw whatever it is they saw. Saved the Giants, and eventually the Mutts, $300m each.If we didn't already have options for 3B it would hurt more but to fail 2 physicals with different teams to me means there's definitely something there. Potential bullet dodged.
I think the expression on Christopher Russo's face made the entire deal worthwhile. He looked like he was going to explode on TV today. What a mess. Giants to Mets to Twins. Yeah but they never said what it is. I need to know- was it meningitis?, Scoliosis? Lupus? Was it lupus?!?!?!Giants medical team deserves medals. No one else saw whatever it is they saw. Saved the Giants, and eventually the Mutts, $300m each.
I think the Twins ended up being pretty big winners here. Worst case is they are stuck with a $33m aav albatross for up to 6 years (if he blows out his leg this ST and immediately retires due to injury). But that’s it. If he continues to play, then some options (??) activate for years 7-10. But the Twins are not on the hook for those additional years unless he shows to be somewhat durable in the first 6 seasons of the contract.I wonder what the medical staffs found. It could end up being a bargain for the Twins, or a waste of money. Time will tell....
