At least this will allow for some of the youngsters to get more minutes tonight. My concern is with Goran - the plan is for him to come off the bench to limit the load on him at this point in his career. A situation like this may call for him to play more than he normally would. Thankfully, the Heat wont play again after tonight until saturday and sunday. It will give them time to get guys back and hopefully work out the pointless distraction with Dion.
Not at all surprised by the performances from Herro, Nunn, and Silva based on what they showed in training camp/pre-season. It is only 1 game, but they proved their worth on a night the Heat needed them due to being short-handed.
The heat ought to re-think sending these guys back to the G-League when their season starts.
They deserve at least partial-guaranteed contracts to remain with the big league team the rest of the season. Hopefully they remain humble and continue to work. Their potential is limitless.
Love the 39 FT attempts vs the 18 3-point attempts. Of course, it helped not to have James Johnson out there to keep that number low.
But, this is clearly a different team and brand of basketball.
Lets see how things go when James Johnson, Jimmy, and Waiters are added to the mix/rotation -- Enforcer, Udonis Haslem -- will leave his mark at some point this season as well.
Per Heat, Spo moves into 30th all time on the coaching win list with 524 wins - and continues to add to his legacy as all-time winningest coach in franchise history.
Good to have some clarification as to why Jimmy Butler is out. Thanks to the unnecessary way the Heat handled the Waiters situation, Jimmy suddenly missing the opener lent itself to some unnecessary speculation.
Its unfortunate to have key guys miss games, but at least the youngsters will get more, much deserved and earned opportunities.
Going to be a long, bad night for the heat if they continue to try to beat the Bucks at THEIR game - cant keep wasting possessions jacking up bad 3's. The Heat did a good job of staying away from that on opening night.
The rest of the way, the Heat need to take care of the ball better and get better shots - its the only way they will be able to stay in this game and give themselves a chance.
Heat absolutely EARNED this one tonight - fighting their way back after being down big in this one. It helped that Antetokounmpo fouled out late in the game - but the Heat certainly earned this one when it matter after playing extremely sloppy for the better part of the game.
Have to get back at it again tomorrow at Minnesota.
I have been thinking the same thing now for 2 1/2 games. It looks as though he doesn't have his legs under him yet when shooting FTs - which is unacceptable at this point in his career - and more so for it to be happening this early in the season. Thats the type of thing that happens when fatigue sets in - but that shouldn't be the case 2 1/2 games in.
