Mark Buehrle on HOF ballot

Gary Peters maybe the best hitting White Sox pitcher of all time - -as well. I remember a game - where Gary Peters was pitching and was moved to first base for a reliever - then went back on the mound and finished the game.

gary hit one to me in the right field stands that a guy 2 rows down from me caught. never forgot! never forgive!

dixie howell hit .262 with 5 hr's over 4 years with the sox. gary .212 with 15 hr's over 11 years.

in the twenty's a guy named sloppy thurston hit .286 over 4 years with the sox.

let me re-state myself. carlton is the all time leader in pick offs ... but mark holds the best pick off % of all time.

Believe it or not - Dirty 30 - Nick Swisher is on the same HOF ballot as Buehrle. Anyone want to vote for Swisher?

I was stunned when I saw Swisher's name on the ballot. At best he had a decent career and that's at the very best. HOF material? Not even close.

I think Buehrle would had a decent shot if he played 5 more years. He could probably have pitched well into his 40’s, maybe even gotten 300 wins.

why did he retire when he did? his last year he went 15-8 with 4 complete games! something caused that.

I would bet the answer is "time with family." You only get those golden years with your kiddos once, cherish them if you are so mega rich and accomplished in your field that you can just say f*ck it and walk away. Good for him.

Buehrle is a hunter/fisher man with a hunting dog. I believe he wanted to do more of that.
