This is the closest matchup of the 2nd round IMO. Very close call. Team 5 has a strong lineup, pop on the bench, an excellent bullpen, and a couple of solid starters in Morris and Tanana. Team 7 has a pretty good lineup(relative to these crazy good teams), a slightly better rotation, and an outstanding bullpen. In the end, Team 5 is just a little deeper and stronger, but its close. A seven game series would go the distance, 4-3

Team 5 wins

I put team five 4th in the rankings and team seven 3rd. After looking at this one a little bit more I agree with what both UK and Steve said.

Neither rotation is really better than the other, seven has bigger names I guess.

I like both bullpens, slight edge to team seven.

The benches are where there is a big difference for me, you could almost start a couple players from team five's bench on team seven.

Problem with team seven is they don't really have any team speed, Dykstra stole 30+ a hand full of times and Fernandez was a 20 steal guy but there's just no team speed.

Tough to vote against Brett and Thomas back to back and this is one of the closest matchups we have ever had.

Team five wins game seven in 15 innings on a Darryl Strawberry HR off Paul Assenmacher.

The more I see team 5 the more they grow on me... His 3 stats usage is very helpful and well used... He tells you who is where and why, so when they matchup with other teams it's almost like a game plan... I may get the "this guy doesn't know shit" look by writing this... But I'll say as a guy who isn't as well versed with these players as the rest of you, team 5 uses the rules to enhance his team perfectly... Right down to the "clean-up" line... Gives you the feeling he's coming in to do damage... Just an observation...

At any rate, overall the 2 guys at the top of team 7 I know pretty well and it gives them the edge slightly in the rotation, but the bench and lineup is a bigger lean towards 5 for me... Team 5 in 6...

Appreciate that write up wlk.

I vote team five.

I like that stoke voted Lou Whitaker above Biggio. But I can't agree on Schilling over Tanana. Early 20's Tanana is the second most dominant lefty in this Mock. (And I hate Schilling)

Id like to flip flop Biggio and Vince next matchup, if I could.

That's your problem with it. Different ideas of team building. I vote for team 7 because of the handsome owner :suds:
