How many HR does Pujols have in Safeco this year?
I swear he's hit one in every M's/Angels Safeco game I've seen this year.

I don't think I have much of a problem with blowers, but Simms has got to go.

We made Skaggs throw 50 pitches the first two innings and decided that was good enough. He threw 50 pitches the next 5 innings and made it through 7 innings. Regardless of the outcome the Ms missed a golden chance to get into the angels bullpen early and tire them out for the rest of the series.

Good ABs by Kyle Seager and Justin Smoak. Hopefully Ackley can do something with 2 on and 2 out.

Unfortunately it took Elias 4 innings to settle in. Hopefully the offense can pick him up now that he has settled down.

And just for the shock and ah believers about Cano and his defense, the best defensive game of the year at 2B was played last night by Franklin. He covered more ground an stood in there to turn double plays the big league way.

Cano is still of course the best hitter on the team by a long shot even though he is Ichiro-esq at singles.

Franklin has always been better than average at 2B. It's why he's redundant here, and a waste of talent wherever else this feckless team tries to deposit him.

Cano drives the ball better when he's not surrounded by the 2nd or 3rd worst lineup in the league. He proved it for the better part of a decade. The variable that changed was the lineup surrounding him. You'd see a precipitous drop in the driving of any top hitter if they were deposited into the heart of this lineup. It's frankly amazing that he's hitting so many bad balls for average.

It's why not other good hitters want to come here. Cano did it for purely financial reasons, as we all know.

It's weird because NW understands that, and has said as much many times, yet still thinks it's magic that Cano isn't hitting for power the way he has for the better part of a decade when surrounded by professional hitters.

Disagree still. The lineup around him has to do with driving in runs and not driving the ball. Again, I have watched every game, and almost every one of his AB's, and he is getting good pitches to hit multiple times per AB and is just hitting singles up the middle. Not complaining because if we had 9 of him we would be winning, but a $240M players has to do more than hit singles to help his team. I don't care if he doesn't hit 30 homers as long as he is hitting 50 doubles like Edgar twice did. I guess total bases is where he pays for himself and he is below his career marks right now and I would never blame that on lineup unless he is on a Bonds type pace for walks which he is not.

He walked 61 and 65 times the last two years for Yanks. He is on pace 51 walks this year. He also currently has his 2nd highest career average so between that and me watching every game it just can't be the case they aren't pitching to him. You can blame Safeco I guess, but not the lineup imo.

Saunders is benched for Romero again!?!

I hate how managers over think and over analyze these righty and lefty match ups. Saunders is batting .273 and Romero is batting .194 period end of story

Plus if you look at Saunder's splits he's hitting .303 against lefties and Romero is hitting .176 against lefties!!!!

I have not the slightest fucking clue why they benched Saunders.

I'd post the statistical comparison between the two, but you beat me to it. There is no rational reason not to have Saunders in the every day lineup with how he has been hitting.

Saunders could be not feeling well or something.

Anyhoo, just flipped past the M's games and saw Felix on the mound, and did a double take. He's fucking SKINNY. Wow.

I mentioned this a while ago and nobody responded so I figured it was just me. Good to know I'm not the only one who thinks he looks thinner.

Yeah, I was taken aback. Hadn't seen him in awhile. I remember reading that he had a pretty severe stomach flu awhile back, but that's can't be all of it. Seems that the weight loss isn't hurting him, so good for him.
