I won’t fault them for not signing Bellinger. I think any person who says they expected him to bounce back the way he did is kidding themselves. But on that same note it would’ve been better to sign him and hope he reaches his potential over signing Pollack or LaStella and hoping they reach the ceiling of only bad or a platoon.

100% agree those moves make them better, but mostly Santana. Julio, Teo and Geno all have needed chewing out for how terrible they have been at the plate since it seems the coaches haven’t gotten through. No idea if there are stats for it but those 3 guys have had at least 50% of their AB’s aren’t competitive AB’s.

That is my fear as well. Gilbert is worth way more than what has been rumored. As a fan I don’t want the Graveman thing again where they trade a huge part of this current team for a guy who can’t contribute to this season. They already need to find an innings eater and it doesn’t make sense to force yourself into finding 2 innings eaters unless they can somehow they can turn their offense into a top 5 offense at the deadline.

He insisted on a one year prove it deal and if you are a hitter looking to prove it there is no way in hell you are coming here. He is smarter than that.

At most they will piss away one of the decent pieces they have for another project guy they will say they have high hopes for that ends up having a career low season next year.

They aren't serious about chasing to win the division. Not for this year, and not for next. They are happy right where they are. A team that will sometimes fight for the last WC slot. Profits are king and riding midline payroll with a team around .500 apparently makes them a shit load of money.

Bellinger? IMO Seattle could’ve signed him to his weird contract player option contract. It seems his whole thing was wanted the most money and Seattle could easily have done but that would’ve completely against their mystical theory of not having a DH and mystical theory of making platoon player vital parts of your roster.
