Thanks guys... That makes perfect sense now...
Montero should have 2 options left....could be wrong about that. I do know that Ackley is the only guy remaining on the 40 man who is out of options. As awful as he is, he wouldn't clear waivers, so I think that's why idiot Jack is still holding onto him.
yeah, he wasn't part of the M's 40-man when he was sent to AAA out of spring training. So to my understanding, the main reason Montero hasn't counted as one yet this year is because he started the season in the minors... And if we brought him up and kept him up, that would not count as an option either... Only if we brought him up and sent him back down...

As NW said, once an option is exercised, the player can be sent up and down the rest of the season. If Montero only has 1 option left (again, i think he has 2), then this will be it for him. He'd have to be released or DFA'd, and he wouln't clear waivers, either.
since he wasn't on the 40 man roster, i'm pretty sure he wasn't optioned to tacoma this spring. he was simply reassinged. if somebody figures out that i'm wrong on this, then please let me know.I could be wrong on this and I'm not sure where to check how many options he has left.... I think he only has 1 option left.
Called up in 2011(no option used), 2012(no option used), 2013 (1st option used), 2014 (2nd option used) so I think that works out to only having the one option left unless I'm missing something.
Also wasn't he optioned to Tacoma out of spring? wouldn't that mean the 2015 season is considered his last option year?

and yeah, i'm not sure if montero has 1 or 2 options remaining
For those who have 15 minutes to go over all the ins and outs of this topic, I found an article from Rockies Fan site go over it all.
No, seriously, what exactly are 'options'? - Purple Row

Small sample size, but that is the kid I saw in spring. I bet that shoulder problem slowed him down big time.
I take it the shoulder injury is completely fixed now? I wish they didn't try and have him play through an injury, doesn't seem like the thing to do with a young top prospect.
Exactly....Was thinking the same thing. Makes 0 sense. He could have hurt it worse and/or developed some really bad mechanical issues trying to compensate. Foolish.
