6 or 7...lol. I think he was ranked 17th which is good considering Dodgers signed 1-16.
I really don't pay much attention to this international signings. The fact that a lot of them are 16 years old makes them such a huge crap shoot. I really don't start paying any attention to them until they start getting playing time with the main affiliates meaning short season A ball and above.

I do to a degree since our best player was an international signing. Dodgers signed a few including the number one ranked player a 19 year old hard throwing pitcher. Blue Jays signed Vlad's kid.

What about that 20 year old OF from Cuba, heard where he signed? I think his name is Eddy Martinez or something.

The Mariners have agreed to Ivan Fortunato, a 16-year-old righthander from the Dominican Republic.

Fortunato has a long, lanky build at 6-foot-3, 170 pounds with big hands and long fingers. Between the physical indicators and loose arm action, he should be able to add considerable velocity to his 85-87 mph fastball once he packs on some size, with a good delivery and strike-throwing ability already for his age.

By Jesse Sanchez / MLB.com | 6:16 PM ET

Thursday marked the start of the 2015-16 international signing period, a day when some of the best teenage prospects in the world signed with teams and took huge steps toward fulfilling their Major League dreams.

The Dodgers, as expected, made the biggest splash when the market officially opened, agreeing to terms with two of the top five prospects on MLBPipeline.com's Top 30 International Prospects list, including a $16 million deal with 19-year-old Cuban right-hander Yadier Alvarez. They also landed the No. 5 prospect on the list, Starling Heredia, and are thought to be in contention for top-ranked 20-year-old Cuban outfielder Eddy Julio Martinez, who isn't expected to sign until later in the month.

I think it is interesting that you only see like half the teams in the league singing these guys while some teams are singing multiple international guys.

I know it is pretty one sided. I believe there should be an international draft. Level the playing field on it.

100% agree. It makes sense to do it that way, i really don't know the arguments against having an international draft but it makes sense in my mind.

I'm pretty sure I read that manfred wants to have international players included in the regular draft with college and high school kids

I hope that actually happens. Or something at least where there is the normal draft keep that the same then when the "international signing" usually starts instead have a different draft for those players. Only reason I say that is because they are doing this international thing with players that are 16 years old in a lot of cases.

I wrote Montero off a couple of years ago but you have to admire how hard he's worked since hitting rock bottom. I hope he gets another chance because he's earned it.

Wow, I know that Zunino was rushed to the majors, but for the fuck of it I was curious what his minor league stats looked like and came to realize that he played a mere 96 games in the minor leagues before being called up. That is absolutely astonishing.

He has problems he needs to work out and the Mariners need to find a viable catcher while Zunino works on those problems in AAA.
