I like the Big M inclusion.

Although it pains me to exclude some pretty damn awesome Centres like Gilmour, Sittler, the Chief Armstrong, and Apps, I would choose David Keon.

I might also replace McDonald with Ron Ellis, only because Lanny had so much of his great career in Cowtown.

Salming is a no brainer. Day or Horton are the other two choices, for sure.

Goalie has to be the Turk. (Did you know.....the Monster played 1 more game in net for the Leafs than Jacques Plante did???)

Keon probably was better than Gilmour. Fuck, Sundin might've been better than both (but fuck him). But Dougie is my boy.

I try to forget the monster era.

For fun, I was going to say Hextall, Pronger, Van Impe, Schultz, Kelly, Brown as an All Bully Team.
Pronger????? Has Philly ever had a great defenseman?

I'll give cheese an HM, but Tiny was the man in his day. Now if it were an all bully team like one above, Shore would be an easy choice.

Maybe not.

Now that I'm home and have had a moment to reflect (OK, I had to check some shit out on the interweb, so sue me) I will go with;

Goalie; Frank Brimsek

Defense: Mr. Orr

Defense; Ray Bourque

Forward; Phil Esposito

Forward; Cam Neely

Forward; Milt Schmidt

I know that Milt and Espo were both centerman and John Bucyk is a legend and a left winger that would round out the forward trio nicely, but Miltie was a left hand shot who could have played the wing and he was a freakin superstar while Bucyk was damn good forever. Tough call, but that's my list.

Ugh you're not one of these fans that thinks Sundin was no good, are you?

I would personally go with Howe and Eric Desjardins. That Galley guy was pretty good too.

Gotta go with Parent too, but only on technicality. Pelle was way ahead of him (and the rest of the league) talent-wise.

Tretiak and Lindbergh should have been the Euro goalie revolution. Not Hasek and Nabokov...

Both pretty good, but neither great.

As for Lindbergh, I can't put him on any "great" list because his body of work is too small. Bernie Parent did too much much in Philly to be usurped by a one hit wonder.

Lately? No, other than Pronger. In the 70's the Watson brothers were good, so was Van Impe and Moose DuPont. In the 80's Howe and McCrimmon were great. Desjardins was no slouch either. The Flyers, unfortunately, have had not had a "superstar" type - like Subban.
