it's way too early to discount him not being a possible first round draft pick

end of story.. he's righ on the cusp as of this time. Senior Bowl proved his worth to be there at this moment. Two plus months to go before draft..

you two want me to go all Miami Vice on yuze

Thats what I was getting at earlier. Ramsey can be viewed as a big CB which means Thompson can be the number 1 FS in the draft to many.

CBS is now mocking us a WR in the 1st round. :stephena:

Why do we need to draft receivers to make Stafford better? Why can't Stafford make average WR's look good?

what happened to you wanting WR Coleman in 1st round should CJ retire ?

is it Treadwell they're predicting ?

If it is a receiver, I hope it's Coleman. But every year it's the same racket. Defense wins championships ala Denver. Tired of getting Stafford toys when he doesn't lead us anywhere.

Isn't it odd when the Lions Offense took us to the playoffs in 2011 the defense was above being shipwrecked. And when the Defense took us to the playoffs in 2014 the offense was above being shipwrecked?

2011 Stafford was playing to raise his stock for his contract year in 2012.
2011 Offense 4th in points - 5th in yards - For Stafford's Contract
2014 Suh was playing to raise his stock to sell himself to the highest bidder in 2015.
2104 Defense 3rd in points - 2nd in yards - For Suh's Open Market

2012 had a lot of useless yardage for Calvin to raise his stock before his contract year (when he broke Jerry Rice's single season record) in 2013.
2012 Offense 17th in points - 3rd in yards - For Calvin's Contract

Can you say Gravy Train Express?

Think his skill set would be a good match for Stafford

Really liking the look of CJ Prosise(3rd or later) from ND Fantastic vision, tough runner with a little stop and go mixed in. Very close in running style to Clinton Portis.

Mayock: Potential team fits for 2016 NFL Draft prospects

Detroit Lions
With Ameer Abdullah being more of a speedy back who can excel on the perimeter and catch passes, a bigger back with more power could be in the Lions' draft plans. But with running back being a position that could offer intriguing value later in the draft, top-shelf options like Ezekiel Elliott and Derrick Henry might not be the best move for the Lions, especially if Abdullah is already a valued piece of the backfield puzzle.
"I think a guy like C.J. Prosise from Notre Dame, about a 220, 222-pound player, (could fit the Lions). What I like about him is he was a wide receiver until this past year and jumped in at tailback and looked completely natural at the position," Mayock said. "So I think he's probably a fourth-round guy. I like his size. I like his speed, and I like his upside. He might make some sense paired with (Ameer) Abdullah."

BB_72 Idk if he makes it to 4th round or not. it's possible as much as anything right now

What 3rd rounder? :noidea:

Depending on FA signings, obviously, and how first 15 draft picks shake out, don't be surprised to see one if not two third round picks magically appear during the draft (right around the #83 or #84 slots).

I don't have the exact info in front of me but in the 14 years BQ was with the Pats, I believe they only took a WR in the first or second round once, and it was their second first rounder that year. Feel free to fact check that.

I know they took Aaron Dobson (Marshall) in 2013. That was their second second round pick that year. Even if they did take one more along the way. It was never a priority, so it's still a very true strong statement.

Mayhew was the black Al Davis.

I'm pretty sure Mayhew's entire philosophy was gettimg a speedy RB to run all over the middle of he field so Calvin would be left one on one. In reality, he should have tried that with a slot WR, and drafted power backs, who would have aided Calvin by requiring the defense to stack the box.

NFL Media analyst Bucky Brooks compares Michigan State T Jack Conklin to Andrew Whitworth.

"Conklin is a throwback at the position, exhibiting strong hands and a powerful punch when engaging defenders at the line. He complements this with textbook footwork and fundamentals on the edge," he wrote. "As a run blocker, Conklin exhibits mauler/brawler traits at the line of scrimmage. He aggressively moves defenders off the ball and displays some nastiness as a finisher." The Conklin-type is targeted by some teams and avoided by others who don't see a prototypical LT here. With that in mind, Brooks suggests the Giants, Eagles, Lions and Colts are potential landing spots. He explains by pointing out the sore spots in Conklin's game: "For all of Conklin's strengths as an aggressive edge blocker, he is susceptible to losing battles on the perimeter to athletic defenders. He lacks the lateral quickness to handle speed rushers with a wide array of inside-outside counter moves off the corner."

I wouldn't be upset if we took him in Rd 1 but couldn't this guy be the next Riley Reiff (aka Jeff Backus) as well?
