Barnes, Davenport and Iffy all on IR. Branch probably not playing. Anzelone coming back. Alim will play. We are thin at safety all of a sudden. Might see more Amik this game. The good news is SEA has just as many Defensive stars out this game.

Rags out, Laporta will play. We will need to score some points as I dont think defense can carry us with all the replacements but fingers crossed.

We all thought they had a stacked team that lacked a QB to be dominant. We had been right about the talent, wrong about the QB.

Well that was good enough. Offense was great for the first time all year. Goff finally looks ready to play. Really need to let him play in preseason so he is not rusty in the early games. We should be 4-0 but did not have an offense even close to what last years was for 3 games and are now fortunate to be 3-1. Props also to Awossika for playing well too. He looked like a starter. Also Tim Patrick seems to be fitting in and playing tougher. He is looking much better than DPJ so far too.

Defense was not good. Barnes and Branch were the best tacklers in the back 7and it showed. Lots of shoulder tackle after shoulder tackle attempts that made Seattles offense look awesome. Arnold now has a rep for holding and is getting called for the littlest things. He better clean it up fast. Houston may be done. He is ineffective and has more penalties then sacks and tackles. I would give one of the young guys a chance.

Okay, an oldie but a goodie of mine...I am bringing it back! FIRE AARON GLENN, he is a steaming pile of excrement wrapped in a tortilla of rotting camel and served on a bed of aint got a damn clue. 500 yards to the seahawks?! I have said it for 3 yrs and the pillow biters who defend him are saying he does not have the personnel. He does and has had it. His scheme is and will always be shit

The Lions' defense carried them for the first three games while the offense was a no-show. The Lions are top 10 in scoring defense. In this game, when the Lions lost every pass rusher but Hutchinson, we went back to the same story. Hutchinson gets ridiculous pressure, but without anyone else, they never convert to sacks.

I have long been on the get rid of Gleen wagon, but a fucking strange take to have so far this year off of 1 bad game. Season is already over if the defense does not play so well. Three straight games of allowing 20 or fewer points, but doom and gloom because they allowed 29 this time.

Some tackling drills will go a long way. The arm tackling at shoulder pad level was pathetic. 3 penalties on Arnold as well.

Clean up just those 2 things and that would be another game of less than 20 points. Maybe much less. Kirby had an easy sack that would have ended a drive(that ended up in a TD) because of horrible tackling. Arnold had 1 of his penalties result in a future TD instead of FG. Just those 2 saves 11 points. There were others making similar mistakes. Lots of penalties too. Double digits on the defense alone. Cant blame the scheme for all that.

You seriously taken 1 defensive stat and make a case for calling it doom and gloom? They are 10th in pts allowed, your cherry picked stat. They are 22nd in yards per game allowed, 18th in sacks, take away hutch's sacks and they are tied for last, they are 24th in opponent 3rd down efficiency, against 4 teams who are not top 15 in ANY offensive team stat. In other words, we have played shitty offenses. Long term success is not sustainable when you have to outscore every team we play. We started the season off on a soft schedule of bad teams who still put up points more than they should given the talent we have. I have said for 3 years our defense makes plays in spite of our scheme, not because of it. Our defense's whole is less than the sum of its parts. That is not good

True to a large extent. Some improvement in basic fundamentals would help it a lot though as I stated in the previous post. They are more talented then they have performed and scheme is a part of the problem as well.

I used one stat as an indicator, but you chose to ignore my larger point. The offense was terrible for the first 3 and the defense carried us to 2-1. You want the 1 game after those first 3 to be the only thing that matters because you made up you mind already and no amount of facts will change it.

The Seahawks was game the defense was absolutely unacceptable, nobody can deny it. Going into the game the defense was playing pretty solid. Feel free to pick the one bad game and pretend you have a point, but I will wait to see if this was the fluke and trust the first 3 for now.

I did not pick 1 bad game, I showed 4 bad games, 3 against lesser talent and also 2 previous years of bad defensive playcalling. Defense was not playing solid, defense was playing against bad offenses.

Rams are a bad offense now that Puka and Kupp are out, they both played against the Lions

Cardinals have a very good offense, you just think it is bad because you only watched them against the Lions....the one defense to slow em down so far.

Bucs I will give you don't have a great offense. So you got 1 right!

You got 1 of 3 right on your analysis. Not too shabby

So lets go with facts instead of feelz, not 1 of those teams is top 15 in any offensive stat. So, how good are they?

Mayfield is second in TD passes and like fifth in yards passing.

of course not, they have the misfortune of facing the Lions defense.

Also Arizona has the 4th best redzone td%, are top 10 yards per play, and 12th in total yards. Outside of that nothing major they land top 15 in.

Smitty covered the Bucs stats, and as stated Rams offense lost Their entire receiving game, of course they plummeted in stats, but all those players played against the Lions.

I remember when Lions fans were saying, "I just wish the Lions were competitive; not falling behind 21-0 in the first quarter."

Now after playing in the NFC title game and starting 3-1, they're complaining about the number of yards given up in a win.

Unreal.

It is 1 guy that complained, not "they're".

I think this defense is the best we have had since peak Suh days, and I am thrilled to see the offense finally show up in full force.

I do have some concerns about the tackling we saw last week, but am hoping it was just an outlier.
