I like Calvin Johnsons take on the play......If He doesn't fumble the ref doesn't make a call right or wrong......Need to hold on to the ball.......I agree with Calvin.....If the player can say it then the fans screaming for a win should accept it.....

Don't wan't refs deciding games? Then hold on to the ball.

I find it funny that those same fans automatically have them scoring from inside the one. The offense can't get out of its own way, but suddenly 1/2 yard is a gimme.

Even a FG was not a sure thing.

I like our chances, as it would have been 1st down. I think Zach Zenner would have had 3 chances to score from the 1/2 yard line.

Better chance than not. Bu really a non issue as there were countless plays that would changed the game.

They stopped the Redskins. Are you saying Indians aren't people?

If 161 yards is stopping the running game -- Detroit completely shut down Adrian Peterson. :)

Seattle did turn it over three times.....I have a hunch if the Lions turned it over three times it would be a non issue.......Lions just need new leadership, tons of talent on this team to see it go to waste will be what Mayhew will be known for.

If Lynch plays, different game.

That is the bend but not break approach. They won because they made the plays when they needed to. As in not fumbling at the inch line.

Neither end up winning teams, however teams that are find ways to win. Lions find ways to lose.

Falcons are a bottom 5 team in defensive yards given up. The Patriots average just a few yards less given up per game than both Miami and Detroit. Both are 4-0.

Determining who is good and who isn't based on yards given up is severely flawed. You score with TDs. Not yards.

Unfortunately -- I couldn't agree more. If the Lions aren't finding new ways to lose, they refs are helping them out. I just hope Mayhew drafts the right TE in the 1st round next year.

Couldn't agree more -- when Detroit and Miami start putting up more than 16 ppg and start averaging 35-40 like the offenses of Atlanta and New England, let me know.

Not the point. Do you consider Atlanta and New England bad defenses?

Bad -- no. Mediocre -- yes.

They are overlooked because thru 4 games -- they are putting up video game numbers on offense. Atlanta 35 PPG. NE 40 PPG.

Detroit gives up 0.7 PPG more than Atlanta and NE.

No I do not always follow stats as end all be all unless it's win and losses. I do watch many of the games and the short replays of certain ones I miss. Not just red zone and scoring plays.

Teams with large or decent leads give up trash stats late in games. Seen a lot of talk about Linehan recently. I was never overly impressed with being 4-12 and getting the majority of the top 5 yardage by beating a prevent defense late to rack up numbers.

When are they giving up their points Mike? Atlanta was up 42 or 45-0 at one point. Texans scored on some backups who also were in prevent defense. Now, do I think Falcons are a elite D? No I do not. Just don't get caught up looking at stats to tell you a story.

I've given up on the Fords. The Lions only hope is a voodoo priestess. I'd take a trip to Nawlins if I had a Mayhew doll.

1st and goal is far better than not getting a shot at all. The other side of the coin is... the Lions score and Russell Wilson and company marches down the field on a game winning drive.

Bingo LMW, a victory was never a gimme. Unless that was the last play and even then on a untimed down. The refs may have cost the Lions a potential win.

then on that drive by RW the refs prolly throw the yellow hanky six times against the Lions just to piss you off.
