100% spot on. NFL sends out the memo before the 07 season, saying where and where you cannot film. He "misinterprets the rules" even though he is the smartest guy in the room . against a bottom Jets team they beat by like 40 points and going up an ex-assistant, not too bright. Cost Patriots a 1st round pick, plus a black eye with dopes calling the team the Cheatriots. And then with questioned about Deflategate, he threw Brady right under the bus "go ask Tom, he is the QB" I have never seen a HC in any sport do that before, self preservation and not defend a player. Not 1 type of explanation like the temp, lets see the other team's balls psi etc etc.
I won't dispute any of this other that this being a case of narcissism. Several levels of disrespect? Yes.

But let's face it, most of the evidence used was from before the rules were clarified. Filming the sideline had not been illegal. The punishment did not fit the crime.

Jeff Howe wrote a piece yesterday and he says that BB and Kraft have met every year after the season for the team has ended.
He says that they meet sometimes for an hour because everything has been very good and the new year looks very promising.
Others have been marathons where every weakness and problem is pounded like a samurai sword being created.

2023 could be a marathon. Howe believes that Matt Patricia's future role will be at the top of the list as will Joe Judge's. The Lions and Giants have been paying both of their salaries and they've been with the team pretty much for free. Both have been on a learning curve as neither has previously worked with any offense.

Michael Holley, who co-authored both of BB's books, says that when BB and Kraft sit down, it could become very contentious. Historically, Kraft has stepped back and allowed Bill to operate without any interference. In 2020 Kraft demanded that Bill start listening to his scouts and coaches in the draft room and consider their suggestions before committing a pick to a player he likes. As a result, the past two drafts have been outstanding and more than half of the picks are either starters or play every game. Holley says that his twenty years plus of being very close to Bill gives him a bit of of understanding about the man that few others have experienced. He "thinks" That Kraft and BB might have problems when the state of the team meeting takes place. He doesn't believe that Kraft will fire BB, but he believes that he will make demands that Bill will either have to do or Bill will will tell Kraft that he can't do what he asks and will resign. Holley says that it's all or nothing as far as running the operation of the team is concerned for BB. Holley says that his sources tell him that Kraft "may" tell Bil that he wants a General Manager, OC and DC in place by the draft.

Howe and Holley are both connected within the Patriots' organization.

I think Holley has a much better sense of what's really happening. At least he says things like "I think" and "May" and expresses them when he makes a statement like he did Friday.

Nothing like a mug of holiday cheer.

Don't forget they play a lot of football in practice. We saw some Zappe and the toy seemed shiney at first but tarnished a lot in that last appearance.

I didn't respond to defend anyone else's comments I only replied to the statement that only one person sees a future (paraphrased) for Mac. Again, not discounting your opinion, just clarifying that not just one person hasn't given up on Mac (antics and all).
Not sure why my comments came off as giving up on Mac? I thought I explained already?

This is the first year I really questioned some of BBs calls? I'm still on his bandwagon but inching closer to the exit.

I'm hoping for all of us this was just some crazy whim for him and that he realizes his fault? He's got pics and $ to right the ship.

Get some real coaches, be smart in FA and sure up that oline.

In Bill I still trust. I'm not ready to take a chance on someone else right now. I reserve my right to change after next season.
I have never been on the bandwagon and never trusted him. His beady eyes and looking down when he talks are the first sign he is a liar, and not trustworthy, but to each their own. Merry Christmas!!

I agree that the penalty was way too harsh, seeing filming is not illegal. Its just that Goodell came from the Jets organization, you are playing a subpar team at the time, why film anyways, and going against Mangini, that who's you film and already proved to be a snake by trying to recruit coaches and players. Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest is the Mumbler for that 1 chess play of his

I liken it a bit like the OJ Las Vegas incident. OJ was pretty much punking some scumbags. You don't bring muscle with guns to a punking at not realize a crime is being committed. However his punishment was way beyond that crime and the charges were all brought based on his previous (cough) indiscretions. But clearly BBs indiscretions were marginal compared to that.

This incident was BB punking Mangini. It wasn't about the signals, filming or sideline at all. It was an absolute colossal miscalculation... It should have been a $50k fine for ignoring the rule in the process and a threat to fine each team if any punking shenanigans between them continue. I don't think the consequences that occurred could have been reasonably predicted.

Are you talking the OJ incident or the filming?

If you mean the filming, I seriously don't think it was, regardless of any other filming that had previously occurred. I seriously think the Jets game was only punking given the guy was out in the open wearing an orange "flagman" vest which screamed "here I am" and not "try and find waldo". This was not any sort of clandestine operation.

Spygate (one more time!)

Dec 10th 2006, Miami beat NE 21-0. I was at the game in Miami. Patriots players complained that when Brady called out the play at the line, the Fins players immediately moved their defensive positions to cover the new play - it was like they knew what the plays were - all of them.
Belichick had been complained to new Commish Rodger about lesser teams cheating against them. He wanted something done.
New Commish sent out a letter saying: don't cheat" Belichick was furious! He wanted more.....
Miami press after the 21-0 Dolphins win, reported that Dolphins had electronically separated Brady's audibles from the game tapes.
The Dolphins bragged about it, reported themselves to Goodell, and were told, "don't do it again."
Belichick took matters into his own hands. He directed videos to be taken openly to force Goodell to take action. Goodell did.
Hindsight shows that it was stupid for Bill to butt heads with Goodell openly and he found himself staring at severe punishment.
He got more than he bargained for. The reports on the Dolphins cheating were taken down from the internet and you will not find them

I will end with this:
I personally was at the game and witnessed the strange behavior.
I personally read the articles from Miami websites on the Fins cheatingand bragging about it - they are now gone.

This is different than my take but has the same conclusion. The Pats direct action was actually truly an indirect action however instead of being held in contempt they were charged with (proverbially) murder, then let that charge be paraded around like all the merits were true. The haters were gas lit and enjoyed every bit of it.

This doesn't matter on Denial Island. Got to love some poster. Where they use something like this to bolster their argument; Dan Orlovsky had a record of 3-23 in his career. Oh and that is over 12 seasons. That's 3 more wins than you or I.

lol, some people's children
What was Kliff Kingsbury's record as an NFL QB before going on to become 1 of 32 NFL head coaches?
Does his record really count when it comes to his ability to anal yze others play?

And yes, he is a paid talking head.

Bill Cowher was considered a great HC. What was his playoff record? How Many times did he not make the playoffs or go one and done?
#1 on the win list, Mr Shula. By almost any record a great coach. How many seasons did he go one and done or none-just done?

Cowher had Rothlesberger, Shula had Marino and only made it to the SB once and AFCCG...twice?.

Spare me the horseshit.

No Cowher was not considered a great coach, by anybody, and I would put him on par with Tomlin now . I am too young to remember Lombardi , but have watched him on tape and the guy was awesome, would make and teach everyone around him better, a motivator. Walsh was great, and an innovator, look at his coaching tree and how well he used the WCO. BB 's branches are all saps, why??

Cowher...not considered great by anyone.

And yet, he finds himself in the HOF.
Go figure.

And Shula?

Shula is a great coach 2 diff organizations and surprisingly didn't win with Marino This is all subjective I guess and my opinion. If you gave me the choice of BB or Sean Payton for 2023 HC of NE, I would take Sean . I'd take Andy Reid in a heartbeat, Harbaugh it's a wash The young coaches like McVeigh, to early to tell. Kraft's biggest mistake was giving BB the GM position, like Parcells wanted. Now this guy is hiring his friends who failed elsewhere and sons which I guess is normal, and we see where it's heading.
