I didn't realize how similar the circumstances are with the Cavs bringing in Sanders and the Bulls signing Williams aka Dele.

Their roads have several parallels.

Let's just hope Larry doesn't end up as alligator bait because his brother pulls a Cain and Abel on his ass.

it seems like the vast majority of people who think you need a traditional center to win in the NBA are older fans that have let the game pass them by.

an offense based around a center is an offense that is going to fail. An offense based around spacing, and 3's and a big that can shoot? - now that is an offense that is going to work.

Here's a clue for you...a team that has a decent center was able to stay in the game because their center put up very good numbers against them. The Cavs won, because they are better at pretty much every other position. If Orlando had the advantage at one other position, the Cavs likely lose.

Bogut is a good player, but his skill set does not fit particularly well against Golden State. Thompson is far better defending in space, which is what you need against them.

Larry Sanders is highly unlikely to contribute anything of significance, but the crazy thing is that he theoretically has the ability to do some of the things that make Thompson so valuable against the Warriors. Bogut really doesn't.

He's not going to be stepping out to the 3 point line to defend, but he is a solid rim protector. There is definite value in that.

Plus, if they brought Bogut in, just to keep him away from other teams and have a Warriors insider, they still have that with him not playing. He broke his leg, not his brain. So, they still get the benefit of his knowledge about the Warriors. The fact that they moved so quickly to sign another big after he got hurt, tells me they were looking for him to be more than just a "spy."

I just think the idea that a championship contender is signing guys this late in the season as an "afterthought" is pretty funny. Those kinds of signings are made by teams like the Lakers who are starting to prepare for next year and seeing if they can get lucky with a reclamation project or a guy who maybe just develops late.

If a team is a contender and they are signing someone this late, they are doing so because they think that player provides something they will need at some point in the playoffs. Even if it's just a guy to go into the game for 8-10 minutes and bang some guys around.

I kind of got ahead of myself with my comment there.

He helps against any team with quality big men. I tend to view the Cavs/Warriors arms race only in how new additions will help in that specific matchup. The irony is that in light of injuries, the possibility that somebody other than Cleveland or GS make the finals is greater now than ever before. I still think that is the matchup we will see, but the door is open a little now.

Because there is no guarantee we play GS. Bogut would have been very useful against a team like the spurs(and possibly some east teams), but pretty much useless like mozgov was when we played gs

The reason they are signing these players late is because they didn't have any money to do it earlier. Not to mention birdman their backup center got injured so they were looking for a backup for thompson. Not sure what is so funny about that lol

It may have been a blessing because sanders may actually be the better fit and player if we end up playing gs, should be interesting
