What's the deal with Deon Sanders?

All Sanders had was straight line speed. If a receiver ran straight down the field, he could cover him. Madden even called him out for not being able to cover a crossing route. A quarterback that knew what he was doing usually picked Sanders apart.

Here are the stats of two conerbacks. Both played the same number years, offset of two years. Which one is Sanders?

Woodson's one of my all time favorite players, loved watching him play back in the day.

But your comparison isn't fair. Sanders got all his numbers playing CB. Woodson was a 7x pro bowler at CB and a 4x pro bowler at FS. And 24 of his int's were at that position (FS).

Sanders (8) actually made more pro bowls at CB than Woodson.

All time at position of CB. Sanders had 2 more years at CB




In the years they played at the same time, Sanders only lead in in INT TD's and INT yards. PD's weren't a stat when Woodson played CB. Woodson had more FF, FR, Sacks and tackles. Sanders ends with more INT's as CB because Woodson changed positions, but still outpaces Sanders in INT. Sanders was a one trick pony.

All I'm saying is Sanders was a helluva CB. I never said he was better player than Woodson.
