I'm ok with losing all three

Manaeuuuugh was not good for us.
Cobb was never healthy
Rodin was too expensive

Gausman is the one that hurts.
I am good with all 4.

Manaea was a dumpster fire for us. Maybe it was how he was used, I will grant him that, but sometimes, two parties just don’t make a good fit.

Rodan made it clear he couldn’t stand Kapler, and he wasn’t happy here. That happens. And his first year in NY, he reverted back to his injury history while still getting paid the GDP of a medium European nation.

Cobb didn’t make sense from either direction at the time, but maybe he requested (or made it known he was open to) a trade? It looks like we got decent assets in return, so I am OK with this trade.

Gausman had absolutely zero track record after he busted out with us. Then he was demanding top-of-the-market dollars for way too many years. It is already looking like Toronto is starting the rough portion of that pact.

Lets look at Gausman:

(22, 23, 24)

IP: 174.2, 185, 181
GS: 31, 31, 31
ERA+: 115, 136, 105
WAR: 3.0, 3.4, 0.9
Salary: 21M, 21M, 24M

The only disappointing stat is his 2024 WAR. I think a case could be made that it's an outlier.

He's due 23M the next two seasons, so if he puts up 2.5 WAR or better each year it's a good deal.

At this juncture it looks like he was fairly paid.

I'm starting to fear that my nightmare World Series matchup will come true. I may have to swear off baseball for about 10 days later this month and will have to declare that period in the history of sports never happened.

I am dreading the team tags I am going to have to add to my account…

Guys, I get it, we hate the Dodgers and Yankees franchises. But as fans of baseball and history this is the best matchup.

Fan = Fanatic

Spank fans would never root for the Saux. Saux fans would never root for Spanks. doggie fans would never root for the Giants. Giants fans would never root for the doggies.

Not “rooting for” the Dodgers here, and only want the Yankees to win to have the Dodgers lose. But much rather see the star studded teams battle it out on the biggest stage than Mets Guardians or whatever. I’m a fan of the whole sport not just my teams. Obviously everyone gets to be however they want to as a fan that’s just me.

I am a big fan of Ohtani, haven’t seen a player who’s at bats are must see to me since Bonds. And once he is pitching again it’s even more from me. Too bad he’s a Dodger. Glad he’s no longer an Angel.

Great for the league front offices.
Great for fans of the sport, casuals, and trying to get more interest in a sport that needs it. Of course the front offices prefer that why shouldn’t they?

They love LA vs NY. Corporate big wigs are salivating.

Fans may be hate-watching, but really are just looking at the rosters and saying “this is competitive balance”?

For the record, I praise the Spanks and dogs for their roster construction. ANY team can put up the bucks with proper management. Many simply choose to be leaches on the league rather than spend the money needed to contend.

But the optics are not good. These two rosters are ridiculous.

I prefer seeing the best the sport can offer compete at the highest level and so do casuals and the organizations trying to grow the sport. But like I said everyone gets to be a fan however they want, we don’t have to agree.

I felt the same way about everyone crying about the KD Warriors super team. That was great for basketball just like the Lakers and Celtics and Bulls super teams

Dodgers v Yankees is like Lakers Celtics, it's a must every so often to keep the fans interest, makes great rivalry even better when it is expected. There's always a very popular villain and never a sentimental favorite.
I was hoping the Tigers could perform a miracle.
