This is false. Lebron is not petrified. If he is double and he has a wide open shooter, he is going to make the better basketball play
no, hes afraid my man. look at his numbers late in the 4th. he turtles.

this is from 2016:

"That’s 10.6 percent, which looks more like a nightmarish sales tax rate than the field goal percentage for one of the NBA’s best players, regardless of the game situations. League average in that same timespan has been 22.6 percent."

so he averages 4.7 "game tying or go ahead" shots per season over 10 years...and he almost always misses.

If you think clutch is only in the final 10 seconds then something is wrong with you. You're right though. A game winning 3 with 20 seconds to go is not that important.....

Also these #'s does nothing for me unless you can pull up other superstars numbers in that same situation and then we can have a discussion.

does kobe count?

Eye-popping stat proves LeBron James is half as clutch as Kobe Bryant | FOX Sports

For comparison’s sake, Kobe Bryant, who hasn’t exactly been at his best lately, is 13-for-48 (27.1 percent) on those same shots over the past 10 seasons, making the Black Mamba almost three times more clutch than The King

So a game winning 3 made with 6 seconds to go wouldn't be considered as clutch? Got it
metrics need a starting point. so, fox sports and marc stein chose the final 5 seconds. look at kobe vs lebron.

I get it but I could careless. I have a different definition of clutch. I think hitting a 3 with 35 seconds to go when you're team is down 2 is pretty clutch but I'm the crazy one.

in the NBA? that final 30 seconds is a half hour of ticky tack fouls to the line.

i think the last 5 seconds, for a superstar (and supposed GOAT) is a good place to start...especially if someone like kobe was far and away better in those spots.
PS why is lebron in denial about ever being on a superteam? is he that dense?

I think 5 seconds is ridiculous place to start. Just my opinion though.

But to answer your question, yes lebron is that dense. Even if he doesn't think this Cleveland group is a superteam, his miami group at least in 2011 & 2012 were superteams.

hes been on 2 super teams! lmao

this is why i cant stand the guiy. it has very little to do with anything vs my celtics. he refers to himself in the 3rd person and has selective memory.

To be fair, any stat like this needs a starting point and I think 5 seconds was probably used because those tend to be literally the last shot. There is no chance to get another crack at it.

Having said that, I think all game winning shots are pretty clutch regardless if it comes with more than 5 seconds on the clock.

It's like the game winning hit vs. the walk off in baseball. The Dodgers Corey Seager had the game winning hit in the bottom of the 8th in 1 game last week and then a walk off in the next game.

Both were clutch, both won the game, but the walk off seemed just a little more clutch.

That was awesome. He has 17 home runs already.

Kid also has 4 multi-homer games in his first 45 games. Never been done in MLB history.

He's getting lost behind all the (deserved) hype for Aaron Judge.

Much more pressure on the walk-off at-bat, which is why they are more highly-regarded. Same deal with final second all-or-nothing shot.

It's definitely clutch, but it can't really be compared to hitting that same shot with the game on the line with no time for another attempt. Pressure mounts up to that last second.
