So the Cav's had real worries about IT's health... enough to have to reconsider and reevaluate the deal for days on end... and to leave their new star player twisting in the wind...

... and a 2020 2nd rounder is enough to ameliorate everything?

GTFO, Cleveland. Congrat's on the extra pick... you worked hard for it.

I'm glad this saga is at least a done deal, and everyone can move forward. I'm especially glad for IT... he didn't deserve this.

Cleveland STILL comes out of this looking like a bunch of sad, greedy bastards imo...

Lmao at celtic fans getting their panties in a bunch about a 2nd round pick three years from now. You have no idea what pick that will end up as. Saying it is a top 40 pick for sure is pretty stupid to say the least

agreed on what the pick potentially amounts to, it's more the principle of the thing i think...

Exactly. They played a dangerous game for basically nothing. Stupid asses. Other teams see this, and what a pain it is to deal with them. Well done Mr. Gilbert, you got your 2nd rounder.

I totally think the Cavs won this deal. Kyrie could become a locker room problem. Plus Kyrie can't play defense. The Cavs got the more rounded player in Thomas. I personally think he could be a top 5 PG this year. Westbrook Paul, Wall, Curry,Thomas. I consider Harden true SG this year now Paul is in HOU. If i'm wrong please let me know.
I mean- the issue for me was never if the deal was good- it was if Thomas can help them. If they feel comfortable that Thomas will be able to play AT LEAST starting in say January- and will be healthy all the way through- then the deal is a great deal for the Cavs.

If Thomas reinjures himself and needs surgery the Cavs better hope Derek Rose finds a time machine.

Now i have to root for teams that i traditionally hate though like the Knicks and Lakers and Bulls in order for them to finish above the Nets....not too thrilled about that. lol.....

Devin Booker- lets see what ya got kid!!! Oladipo and Myles Turner? You dont have to have a great Indiana team- just decent enough to get to about 28-30 wins at a min.- shouldnt be too much to ask. etc. etc. etc.

yes and no

Thomas and Crowder were both 2nd rounders... :)

the Warriors had to pay like 4 million bucks to buy the 2nd rounder they used this last draft....so its not useless---- but its not anything to sweat either thats for sure. The Cavs didnt have a 2nd rounder for a while either...kinda funny its the Heats 2nd rounder- hopefully they suck by then and the pick is a decently high one in the 2nd round.

you NBA advanced metric guys (I'm not one)

i heard a stat that said that marcus morris has held lebron to the fewest PPG of any defender over the past 2 seasons. is that accurate?

"a dangerous game"

lol.

the deal when it was struck said there was a week to examine players for physicals. They took their week* and let Kyrie's dick twist in the wind for a while and got an extra pick. Cant say im sad about it.

I woudlnt be surprised if we saw a deal that sent out that 2nd rounder and Shumpert in order to get off that contract and get a guy who might be a little better fit instead of a guy who thinks being a bench schmuck on a good basketball team makes him a celebrity and he no longer needs to try hard anymore.

Oh he threw Cleveland a bone. A 2nd round is nothing to him
I though the Celts were giving up too much b4 this 2nd rounder.
Well at least they used some of their picks finally.

Is this the biggest NBA trade of the last 20 years?

Can anyone think of a bigger one?

you could say that about the brooklyn pick.

or the infamous Minny pick in the chris paul deal.

But if you look at Miami, they're capped out for the next few years. James Johnson is going to be an interesting case study in how he ages. Whiteside is going to be 30 then, turning 31 during the NBA finals. It's not a young team right now.

Unless Winslow's career makes a U turn and a nice leap forward, this team is in a tough spot.

Shaq to Miami was bigger.

The best player of the league traded from the league's best team (at the time).

because they took the agreed upon week to do their due diligence on one of the biggest trades in NBA history?
Bullshit. It was a shakedown. They had all the info before the trade. It's ok though. LeBron is outty. Cleveland is fucked.

the REALLY funny thing is this trade might be the thing that saves LeBron staying in Cleveland.

And from the article on trade grades on ESPN:

Let's be clear that what Cleveland did get -- a 2020 second-round pick originally from the Miami Heat, who sent it to Boston to get the Celtics to take on the guaranteed salary of guard Zoran Dragic in the summer of 2015 -- shouldn't change our assessment of this deal much, if at all. Given the Heat's limited cap flexibility, they could end up in the lottery by 2020, making this a reasonably valuable pick. More likely, it will be the kind of midround pick that is regularly bought and sold for a couple million dollars each year on draft night.
