I knew he would beat out that kid from AZ. Mack recruited a QB out of Scottsdale, AZ a couple of years ago who was one of the top QB's coming out of high school (Connor Brewer). He couldn't even beat out David Ash and was buried on the depth chart at #4. Wound up transferring and I don't even know where he went. The high school football in AZ is terrible. Kenny Hill went to Southlake Carroll, which is one of the major powerhouse programs in the state of Texas and in the country and has produced some damn good QB's the last decade (Chase Daniel, Greg McIlroy, etc).

I think Kyle will be serviceable, he has looked good so far. But experience is the intangible that Hill has, so roll with it out of the gate. Allen will get his turn.

If Hill solidifies himself as the starter, Allen will transfer. QB's today hate competition and transfer immediately to other schools for playing time. The reason Texas had Derp fucking McCoy starting last year after Ash went down is b/c Mack had 3 QB's transfer the past 3-4 years b/c they couldn't crack the starting lineup. All in all, since 2006, Mack had a total of 5 QB's transfer, who were all highly recruited out of high school, b/c they weren't the starting QB (Jevan Snead, GJ Kinne, Garrett Gilbert, Connor Shaw, Connor Brewer). Hell, even Adam Dunn left for the MLB when Mack fell in love with Christina Simms and he knew he wouldn't get a shot at being 1st string.

There was a good reason why Matt Joeckel transferred. He knew it wasn't going to happen for him at the farm school.

BTW, I loved Hill's Dad when he was a Ranger. Had a nasty slider.

Loved Benny Hill, you just don't get quality programming like that anymore. They have a lot of good shows on BBC. The Brits have a different sence of humor but I get it.

It's a terrible problem to have. It decreases your depth at the position and if your #1 goes down, well just refer to what happened to Texas last year.

I think Sumlin made the correct call here. Hill was criminally underrated coming out of high school and is a damn good QB. You really don't want a true freshman starting for you no matter how talented they are. It rarely ends well...

For a state that doesn't have 30 million people in it, Arizona produces a respectable number of good players.

I lived in Scottsdale for 10 years and saw first hand the high school football out there. It's pretty bad. There is a reason ASU and UofA have ZERO national titles in football. And for the record, I'm an ASU fan.
