Fields is just barely good enough to destroy a good tanking operation. Blargh.
Same story as last year except that the Bears invested some talent in the team. Operative word is 'some' as they aren't going to win a lot of games but they'll win 4 or 5.

I guess the important question is: will anyone be worse? Carolina? Not a bad scenario

Denver, Carolina and Arizona are the only teams fighting to be worse but Carolina might take that trophy.

Keep running him that often and taking that many hits and his shelf life won't be 5 or 6 years. If he couldn't run he'd have to develop as a passer. Obviously in a game it's better for him to run rather than guess where to throw, but he plays like he's been allowed to get away with this for a long time in practice.

his shelf is as long as his legs last

Michael Vick or Cam Newton come to mind as guys that could throw the ball deep but struggled to be accurate at times in short to medium. Similar to Justin as running QBs and athletic freaks. Not dissing them here but they did have some shortcomings. As for Fields, not going to put too much stock in last night or the Broncos games. The Broncos D is flat out awful and on pace to be the worst ever even if you completely take out the Miami debacle. Washington relies so much on it's pass rush from the front 4 and when that doesn't get home, their secondary is trash. Also Moore had his best career game and had a shitload of yac yards. Fields was still barely 50% passing. But they had a big win and give them their due for finally getting one after almost a year. Won one for Butkus and the defense showed up a little as well. The Bears are still likely looking at 2 picks in the top 5 anyway and possibly the #1 overall so not going to say Justin Fields is all that.

he's definitely not all that

there is time for others to distinguish themselves.
13 still to play and injuries can derail all teams.
Yeah, its way easier for everything to fall apart than to actually put together a team that can go the distance. Giants, Bengals, Patriots, Giants, Raiders and a number of other teams could get the #1 overall pick and thats before factoring in additional devastating injuries.

Bengals should get better I'd think. but I also think if they find themselves at 2 and 6 or something it might be worth shutting Burrow down

Lets hope that doesn't happen bc the last thing I want is them to draft Harrison Jr. Sign Chase and let Higgins walk-replace Higgins with Harrison Jr. They have enough talent on that team to overcome an average Burrow though I would think. They are one of the teams on that list I don't see getting a top 5 pick-too much talent.

One would think they'd take an OT but I'll admit Im not following their roster too closely.

Ha ha ha, that did not age well.

Did it @rmilia1?
It wasn't supposed to age at all

It was a statement of fact at the time you asked that is no longer true for this year

But i wouldn't be celebrating 2 good showings vs 2 of the bottom 3 Ds in the league either ( especially since it was his turnovers that cost them the win vs Den )

Yes he's played better the last 2 weeks though. Good for him

I laugh at all these shows desperately trying to convince people Fields is or will be a good QB.
1st they get on the coaches for trying to coach him to be ..... you know a passer.
Let him run see he is a good QB LOL

This week though Was more about DJ Moore abusing St. whats his name & the rest of the Skins DBs. than anything Fields was actually doing.
He was one pass comp. different to being under 50% cmp pct. (15-29) Stellar performance!

At least Ohio State finally has a QB prospect they can actually hang their hat on...

(not Fields - because C.J. Stroud is the real damn deal...)

...and this didn't age well either, right?

Ridder vs Houston: 28/37 (75.7%), 329 yards passing, 1 TD passing, 1 TD rushing
I would take Fields recent game over Ridder's....

Yeah, that’s dumb. Everyone should know by now that you stop fields by playing zone and letting him run to your defenders.

You clearly double with safety help when only 1 Bears WR caught a pass. The rest were to TEs Tonyan and Kmet.

All Fields had to do was look to Moore or Kmet all day. Pathetic pass defense.

I'm sure the Falcons would love to have Moore too. Ridder faces that Commanders defense this weekend, we'll see if they learned anything from that debacle on Thursday.

It's a pretty major hole that Fields mostly just wants to look left and intermediate to deep. He throws exceptionally there...but that makes it easy to take away

But if the defense doesn't force you to do otherwise, jackpot.
