Boza nor his mom have any leverage and he sure isn't making a good impression with charger vets.
so glad he wasn't an option for Dallas at 4

JUST FUCKING SIGN HIM ALREADY!
This has gone on for way too long, the Chargers need Bosa and he needs the Chargers. Bosa and his group can say he just wants what other top picks have gotten, but at this point both sides look bad. End the petty game of chicken and let him help the team.
If the problem is only the signing bonus, I am on the player's side.
If there is is a problem with offset language, meaning the player refuses to have it in their contract, i am on the team's side.
It's that simple, and both sides do look bad, but the Chargers have looked bad in this light before. Obviously they don't give a shit, this is how Spanos want to run his biz...At this point...who needs who the most? I think Bosa needs the Chargers more.

Agreed that Bosa needs the Chargers more than they need him. It's why teams risk little knowing that holding their ground long enough will bring players to their terms. Players have little leverage in these matters. They could always stay out and re-enter the draft, but they lose a year, plus money. Not to mention, they could slide and not just lose money, but a lot of money. It's that simple, and both sides do look bad, but the Chargers have looked bad in this light before. You would think they'd have a little more interest in how something like this makes them look to the public, considering they are asking for over $1B from them for a new stadium.
Yeah...but I'm not sure how much this would effect voters...if you want the Chargers to stay in SD you're gonna vote for it. It looks bad on the Chargers, but if it were me voting, this wouldn't change it to no. My issue would be how much skin does the owner have in the new venue?
I'm not sure where the details are now, but I think Bosa and his agent are clinging to what other top 5 picks have gotten.
The reality is other teams defer the bonus, and don't remove the offset language...maybe they were #7 or whatever so Condon is really putting his client in a bad spot if you ask me.

If I'm Bosa, I sign. I'm not saying I'm happy about it, but I sign. Hopefully, I'd play well enough that when the time comes that they want to extend me, I'd tell them to shove any offer they have where the sun don't shine. They got zero chance of re-signing me.
He better hope then by then that the Franchise Tag is no longer around. That is part of the problem is say he does play great and is up for a huge contract and wants to get out of San Diego well they can keep locking him up taking away some of his prime years. I do think the FT will be a big part of the next CBA as the players who keep getting it hate it.

I'd defer the bonus before I took offset language. You don't need the lump sum to live off of. At all (although more than most living in SD).
there's zero actual need for offset language. What another team would pay you after this team doesn't want you anymore is complete irrelevant.

I mostly agree on the offset, but whether it's a need or not, it's allowed in the CBA...imo the offset doesn't really hurt the player unless they bomb out very quickly so I wouldn't be holding out for that at all.
Supposedly Bosa was willing to sign for one and not the other, but both....he's going to sign it with both or continue to sit out.

This is true, but (and correct me if I am wrong here) can't teams really only use the Tag once on a player? If they use it twice, don't they lose it for an amount of time? I could be way off on that (I know that if they tag a player and then they sign a long-term with the team after a certain date the team loses the tag for the length of the contract, but I don't think I am thinking of this).
The point is, though, if you are Bosa, you stand a lot more to lose by not signing than by trying to take a stand. You're going to get your bonus, and the off-set is understandable from a business standpoint. Is it really worth all of that to miss the entire pre-season, and lose months of practice that can get you onto the field and playing in games, proving your worth, and working towards the next goal in your career.
If the team needs that, they should trade him. Plain and simple.
