The 1-4 Steelers lost another close game last week to BAL...in it, but just not making the game defining plays to win it.
No rest for the weary...the Steelers head back out west to LA LA land and facing the Chargers 2-3 who are probably feeling a little salty this week after allowing the Broncos to get their 1st win of the season on their home field.
Injuries
Coming out of a game with the Ravens, you expect some guys to be banged up and there is a list this week.
Rudolph...Concussed.. out this week after the wicked shot that most of you no doubt have seen.
Samuels...Knee...out, got his knee scoped this week, 4 weeks is the noted time he's likely to be out.
Washington...Shoulder...out. Sounds like he will be out at least 2-3 weeks. Moncrief...here is your second chance!
Barron...Hammy...likely out.
They will go with Devin Hodges at QB who came on in relief last week. Snell Jr should get more touches at RB this week. It would make sense for Moncrief to resurface this week, but also thought Rogers was a potential this week.
The Chargers are not playing at the same level they were at this time last year, but they still have the solid pieces on both sides of the ball. The DEF is ranked in the top 10, and OFC is a little further down the ranking coming in 18th.
Outlook.
It's kind of tough to get a real gauge on the Chargers in this early going. They are obviously still led by future HOF QB Rivers, and the weapons he has including his RB Melvin Gordon. On the other side of the ball, they have two great edge rushers in Joey Bosa, and Melvin Ingram. They have given up large chunks of yards on the ground in two of the 5 games played. That's something Fichtner has to be paying attention to.
Both teams will be highly motivated to get a W. Without Conner having a big night on the ground or in general, I don't see them coming back with a win. The Steeler DEF is playing at the high level right now so I expect it to be a lower scoring affair...primetime game gives me some hope, but in keeping with my trend of not projecting a loss, I will not be projecting a score for this one.
What say you?
