Lol lets face it man. There a lot of members on this site whose teams had to endure multiple ass-kickings at the hands of the Steelers over the last 20 years, so its only natural that embittered fans of other will try to find any reason to kick dirt on any Steeler's accomplishments.

We had this discussion earlier and it is actually an interesting debate. He was only a top-10 rusher in the league in 4 years of his career and averaged only 3.9 ypc, neither of which would indicate HOF consideration. Terrell Davis had several years in a row that were all better than Bettis' best year but his career was significantly shorter.

I don't hate Bettis at all, but I don't think he belongs in. He is rewarded not only for longevity but for the position he played. There are WAY too many QBs and HBs who get in over better players at less appreciated positions. I would rather see Pace or Lynch get in as they are far mote deserving.

......like I said about Warner and Terrell Davis = it "pays" to be on tv when you're eligible for HOF/nomination,.....I didn't think the bus would be enshrined this year, but maybe in the next 10-yrs...?,....and I hope he thanks BIG-Ben in his HOF speech for that ankle-tackle against the colts........!

I have always liked The Bus. I'm a fan of power backs, he is very loyal to his organizations, he was not controversial, and when he was in The Bus mode, he was fun to watch. He was a major part of Steelers success later in his career.

It is not that I don't think he is deserving of Hall of Fame. I believe he has done enough. It is just the other members in the class are more deserving than him, and I believe Kurt Warner is more deserving. Warner has more impressive resume, IMO.

This.. Marvin Harrison and Warner should be in ahead of Bettis.

Seriously, the only reason that Jerome Bettis made it to the HoF is because he had so many carries. He was never a dominant player at his position. In 9 of his 14 years in the NFL, he had a YPC of 3.8 or less. That is terrible. 4.0 YPC is considered a basic bench mark for being a starter in the NFL. The only reason he accumulated 13,000 yards is because he loitered around the league for so long.
