well, i believe it's MORE than "just a set of rules". if anyone believes they can stay 100% spotless all their lives their wrong. even unbelievers say "nobody's perfect". fact is science STILL doesn't have all the answers. the Santa thing though is a pretty good analogy. in God's eyes we ARE children. good stuff...

Awwwww, man, here we go again!

Unbelievers think Christians and people with religious beliefs are just STUPID. They don't understand our beliefs and they don't want to, with most unbelievers.

I think unbelievers see the hypocrisy in the whole debate. As Christians or whatever religion you may be, you are not to judge people, kill people, basically all the commandments. People that swear up and down they believe in God and religion but call you a moron in the same breath are hypocrites. There is a God but nobody knows for sure what denomination he/she is or if he even gets involved in the day to day life of people. I dont mind that some people dont believe in God because my faith that there is one is above question by any other human being. My problem is more so with religion because it sounds suspiciously like something men invented for crowd control.

Unless there's a significantly different translation somewhere I don't see that. I see "I did it". I think it's semantics, though. He "caused" it, similar to how he likely "caused" Jesus to be crucified. Remember, Jesus absolutely had to be crucified for the religion to hold. If it had to happen, it seems silly to me to judge those involved too harshly, especially if god had a role in making it happen.

I am not a Christian, but I have extensive knowledge of Christianity as a result of being raised as a Christian and reading the entire bible (only straight through once) probably at least 15-20 times, so please don't view that as being clueless on the topic. As for drugs, while I would consider a lot of drug use as treating your body badly, or otherwise not using your abilities as efficiently as you should, both bad under the bible, I wouldn't consider casual marijuana use in violation of its principals, although someone smoking a couple ounces a day, and certainly on the other extreme, something like crack, absolutely as bad. I think casual marijuana use could easily be viewed as similar to alcohol.

no, Jesus "had to be crucified" because his blood bought our way into Heaven if one has faith. not a matter of "religion holding". religion is a broad term anyway. in any case, i'm not looking at you as "clueless" so don't get the wrong idea. as far as drugs go i agree about using them for medicinal purposes and i'd agree that God would have no issue with it. look at it this way. if God truly IS the master of the Universe and the almighty and he says "don't do something" then it's absolute folly to disobey. drinking wine was done back in Jesus' time, but he did tell people not to "drink in excess". so you tell me where you draw the line? in any case, i didn't want to turn this into a "religious debate" but i DO think what Turnip did was very disrespectful. and while YOU may not believe obviously there are folks here that DO. folks may want to keep that in mind...

well, it's easy to see it that way when you want to NOT believe in something. easy to slap a label on it and simply set it to the side when you have that mindset...

ah well, think i've said enough on the matter...

This whole ramble is about YOU telling us what YOU think and acting like it is gospel because YOU believe it to be. How is that not disrespectul to anyone who doesn't agree?

My picture was just that. A picture. It wasn't directed towards any particular poster here nor to mock anyones beliefs, let alone yours.

How can you possibly say " and while YOU may not believe obviously there are folks here that DO. folks may want to keep that in mind" when you offer daily opinions to people who you know obviously don't agree with you nabout all sorts of things?

Consider it poor wording. Jesus dying for your sins is a central tenet, therefore he did indeed have to be sacrificed.

I agree about drinking in excess. That was my point. Some drinking, other substances may be acceptable. If you drink to the extent it has a negative impact on your life, or do the same with weed, coke, crack, caffeine, etc, you are violating the spirit of it. It's not about an amount.

You're overreacting on the picture. It's a joke. For all you know Jesus smoked. I'm not saying you should assume he did, but it's not really portraying him in a negative way.

All that I can say to that is no one is perfect, Christian or otherwise!! Christians mess up and sin all of the time!! The difference is, Christians know we sin and fall short of God, but we ask for and receive forgiveness!!

well, for all i know he didn't. the Bible says he's the son of God, and IS God. that being the case he didn't sin ONCE because God is incapable of it. i don't think i'm overeacting. in fact truth to tell i'm not even upset over it. Turnip was the one being foolish and i'm used to that from the guy. whenever the guy loses an argument or someone doesn't see things his way he resorts to punk moves like that. that move's on HIM. and i HIGHLY doubt he was joking because he has a track record for lying. i've seen it now for a number of years. in any case, once again i wasn't trying to turn this into a religious debate...

You are so full of yourself and full of shit at the same time it's ridiculous.

Losing an argument? I was offering an opinion that many agreed with here and many did not. That is called a discussion.

One of the last posts before I posted the picture was about weed and long hair. My picture was posted ( as a joke) to go along with that theme. Fact of the matter is, at that point, the thread was all but dead.
The picture revived it and lead it in a totally different direction because of the reaction of you and a couple of others who felt the need to insert your assumptions and religious views in a forum where it was totally uncalled for.

Weed being a sin is highly debatable.
