Probably... But he certainly is one hell of a whiner.... Yet he won't get called out for it since he doesn't yell "F8CK!"

Really needed a Super Bowl to get him over the top. I'd put him in over Eli, though.

Looking over his stats, I'm seeing 5 great years as a top tier QB, 4 years he was pretty good, 4 years where his INTs tanked his team, 4 lackluster years.

He'll get in eventually but I do think this opens the floodgates for quite a few QBs getting in.

These days, everybody gets in. He should have to wait a while but he will eventually get in. His durability and toughness will play a factor as well, imo. The SB ring argument should never be made, imo. I realize it will always play a role in people's minds but it really should not. Eli Manning has 2 rings and played in the big apple but he was not as good as Rivers and Eli will definitely get in. You can tell by the way the media talks.

I say no.....but it is damn close. Wouldnt argue against him that is for sure.

.....but he would need to have a year where there were not a lot of shoe-in candidates and there arent a lot of those years coming up. The way they vote for the HOF is probably one of the main reasons that he doesnt make it.

I saw yes. Fantastic QB in his prime. Super Bowls can't be the only measurement for success.

Top tier QB during an era where we had likely 3 of the greatest QB's of all time (Brady, Brees, and Peyton).

I never saw Marino live (I'm 35ish) during his prime and I find it nearly impossible to compare players so far apart in playing days, as the game as changed.

True, but I watched both and I'm going off the old eye test.

I always go by the reaction test. When you hear a guys' name, you immediately say "YES" and that's a HOF'er. If you hesitate - the answer is likely no, but as we've discussed before on here, the HOF is also the Hall of Really good.

Peyton Manning -Yes
Tom Brady - Yes.
Drew Brees- Yes.

Phillip Rivers - ehhhhhhhh

I think he'll eventually get in, as his stats are up there with guys, but to me he's not an all-time great, and that is what the HOF should be for. He was very good during his years, but he was not "great". Maybe for a few years, but certainly not long-enough, IMO.

Does anybody remember Dan Fouts? He's a HOFer. He was a bad ass QB. A member of the 40,000 club back when that meant something. He has a 254-242 TD-INT ratio. He never made it to a Super Bowl. If only they had a defense.
