I don't see any Sooners talking down to Nebraska. Check yourself and stop being butthurt. Going to the B1G didn't do Nebraska any favors. This is year 15 since your last conference title in football. Let that soak in. Beating Bama didn't make OU hot shit, we've always been hot shit, cept for those John Blake years.
For the scrubs maybe.
OU is going coast to coast.
2014 class was
6 Cali
2 Arizona
1 Georgia
2 Louisiana
1 Mississippi
1 Ohio
1 Tennessee
1 Utah
4 Oklahoma
6 Texas
The Big 10 still has the biggest population area of any conference. And it isn't even close. Dwindling or not, there are great football players in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and the Northeast. The additions of Rutgers and Maryland now open up fertile recruiting grounds in the NJ area and Virginia Beach and Maryland. That is a lot of ground, and a lot of people.
The Pac12 has California for its recruiting grounds. Not sure I see much difference between that and Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, the Northeast, and now a good portion of the East Coast. Just like the Big 12 has Texas.
The ACC is in deep with the SEC for talent. Like everybody else they are losing that battle. Only Florida State and Miami do we ever see in Top 10 recruiting rankings and occasionally we see Clemson on that list.
The Big 12 is the biggest loser right now regarding recruiting. Recruiting grounds haven't been expanded (actually lessened), and Texas is the feeder for the entire conference. While Oklahoma has a good bit of talent, now the areas of Missouri and Texas are more up for sale than they have ever been with Missouri and aTm moving to the SEC. Not only does everybody in the country dip their hands into the Texas talent, now the SEC has full on steam to get after it in Texas. And yes, even Big 10 teams like Nebraska and Michigan have solid ties to Texas high schools and recruiting.
Blake years?
You mean the Gibbs, Schnellenburger, Blake years?
1999 (7-5)
1998 (5-6)
1997 (4-8)
1996 (3-8)
1995 (5-1-1)
1994 (6-6)
1993 (9-3)
1992 (5-4-2)
1991 (9-3)
1990 (8-3)
1989 (7-4)
1988 (9-3)
Like I said, I think Nebraska's fared their blue-blood down cycle rather well compared to most.
It's all cyclical. There will come a time when it will be the cool thing for guys to go North to the B1G. Not sure when but It will happen.
I think Nebraska is a fit in the B1G. However I think that it is interesting to compare the Big12 with these mega conferences and see there may be a benefit to belonging to one that is not so large. I do think Nebraska, football wise, could be a bigger player in the Big12.

The thing is, the state of Texas is so vast and full of elite talent there is plenty to go around. The SEC has always recruited Texas well, long before Aggy joined so that isn't anything new. The biggest loser may be Nebraska, as they will start losing on Texas recruits (actually, they already have) and will have to rely on Midwest recruits. All you need is the right coach and you can rely on nothing but Texas recruits (refer to Baylor and Okie jr). WVU's recruiting ranking has also picked up since they joined the Big 12.
I don't consider Gibbs a bust. He coached the team during those sanction years. Hell of a job, hell of a job.
They will forever be known as the blake years. Howards 1 year, ok whatever. Blake was terrible. 96 was the worst season ever.
Let me ask you this though..
Is it a coincidence that the greatest 4 year stretch in Nebraska football history (94-97)just so happen to be the worst 4 year stretch in Oklahoma football history?
So if Oklahoma wouldn't have sucked, it would have been Nebraska going (5-6), (4-8), (3-8), (5-5-1), (6-6), etc?
I think not, so it must be coincidence. At the very worst, Nebraska would have some of those Alabama NC's.
You know, the ones with a loss?

Burkhead was a freshman in 2009, when Nebraska was in the Big 12, so that doesn't even count. And seriously naming 3 guys is going to help your argument? Look back at 2007, 2008, and 2009 and compare to now, that pipeline has dried up.
And in the current model they would be playing Texas and OU every year.
That had more to do with Switzer resigning more than anything, since he owned Osborne. If Switzer doesn't resign, Nebraska doesn't go on that run, IMO.....
I'LL TURN THIS DAMN BUS AROUND. THAT'LL END YOUR PRECIOUS LITTLE FIELD TRIP PRETTY DAMN QUICK

It is related. LSU rose as Bama went on Probation. Anytime a reginal power goes down someone is there to pick up the pieces. Doesnt mean history would be rewritten had OU not been exposed, but Nebraska would have had a harder time. Clearly OU and Texas sitting on the balls of their asses was a great opportunity for Nebraska to flex their muscles and to their credit they did
