I think the Browns will have to eat $8-10M of Mayfield's salary just to move him...sans pick. If they want a pick in return they'll have to eat even more salary...effectively buy a pick. That's the current market situation. It could get better, it could get worse. I think the Mayfield market could get significantly worse if Lance looks like a starter and the 49ers talk about cutting Garoppolo.

Agree, and if they don't want to pay some/most of the contract they will need to send Mayfield and a 3rd or 4th for a 5th maybe 6th.

The 3 weeks prior to Week 1 of the 2022 season was always the sensible time for the 49ers to make a decision about Garoppolo, and that hasn't changed. If Lance isn't ready he'll be a $17-22M starter on a playoff team with a $25.5M salary. If Lance is ready there's no justification in keeping him when he can be released at zero cost. I didn't think he was worth $25.5M several months ago but I thought a team would trade a pick for him even with a salary above his value based on what had happened with Wentz and Darnold. There seems to be more economic sanity in the NFL QB market now than there previously was. Potentially Garoppolo could be cut even if Lance isn't ready. In that future FA market a 49ers offer of $12-15M might be the best option Garoppolo could find. All speculation on my part at this time.

Tragic downfall. Ended up being nowhere near the top 10 WR I thought he was. I'll admit I was dead wrong about his maturity. Dude forced his way out of Pittsburgh, and then found himself in a worse situation in Carolina. Then he once again forced his way out and landed in Baltimore. And YET AGAIN, he forces his way out... That's 3 times in a single calendar year. Gets scooped up by Houston & waived after just 2 games.

Baker is arguably top 5 in the NFC right now which means he could contend for a spot in the top 10. It’s not so clear cut - I would say Mahomes is on a level by himself, and other elite QBs are Burrow, Allen and Lamar. In the NFC I would put Goff, Stafford and Hurts definitely ahead of Baker - after those there are several good QBs who are similar, so you can make a legitimate argument for Baker being a top 5 NFC QB, and depending on how you rank the AFCs QB he could crack the top 10.
