Not saying Keuchel was a stud, but I think he could’ve been a serviceable 5th starter or at least depth. I truly can’t make sense of trading him when they just put Woo on the IL. I am starting to get really concerned they are going to try to upgrade the pitching staff instead of lineup.I saw that and was in a little disbelief. We aren't exactly strong in depth.
With how the roster currently stands, how much does he really help. He makes the lineup better but kills the bench. If Alonso is on the team, that means most days the bench will have France and Garver/Haniger and those guys are a waste of a roster spot if they are bench player. Maybe have the Mets swap Alonso and Marte for France, Haniger and whatever prospect package then it makes sense.
It smells that way. And I get the feeling that the Laz and Arroyo promotions are to showcase them for a few weeks. Not saying Keuchel was a stud, but I think he could’ve been a serviceable 5th starter or at least depth.
