Yes this is a shitty year for Michigan State which would be an above average year for Michigan over the last 8 years.

Not to kick a man while he is down, but losing to Indiana never happened over the last 8 years. We lost to pretty much everyone else though. It has been like 30 years since we lost to Indiana.

MSU's season reminds me of quite a few of UM's seasons. New QB beats ND -- everyone thinks he is better than he is (for UM -- it was Tate Forcier and Devin Gardner) -- they then come crashing back to earth once people realize ND isn't any good.

You guys had a great run the past few years. One Nebraska should envy at this point.

I think years like this sadly confirm the false national perception of Michigan State though. They deserve a lot more respect than they're given. If Nebraska was winning games and CCG's at the same clip, we'd be looked at as a national powerhouse to be feared by everyone each year, but with MSU there was always doubt.

Your recruiting's been on the upswing though, so I imagine MSU will still be a tough out for years to come.

One thing that has always made it easy for the national media to pick on MSU for is their generally weak fanbase. They had huge patches of empty seats at home for the Wisconsin game. Like what the fuck is that? And their online presence as I've said before is pretty scant.

Fan presence online is actually a pretty big contributing factor in national relevance these days as long as you're winning your fair share.
