On a legit tip I am not sure you get it both ways though. When we have the tired ass, lame ass, boring ass Brady/Manning debate it is often brought up that Brady " hasnt won anything in a decade", which of course means ONLY that he has not won the SB in a decade ( since he has won everything else ).. SO if you use any of that kind of logic when debating the 2 QB's I would only assume you would consider Mannings time in Denver a "bust" if he doesnt win a Super Bowl. I mean that is the only possible logical conclusion/ I think Manning is the best QB I have ever seen play and the levels that he has lifted a guy like D. Thomas, Eric Decker ( when he was there ) and Julius Thomas etc has really been special. Tough call for me as it pertains to what Denver fans should feel though. Like an earlier poster said Dnever didnt sign Manning to break records, they signed him to win Super Bowls.

So following your logic then, rmilia, and since you're especially objective on this particular debate, IF Peyton wins the SB in Denver, is there a single shred of credibility left for the "Brady is the GOAT" argument? :noidea:

I'm not seeing anybody "dissing" Brady. What I am seeing though, is Brady fans going back to their inferiority complex mode because Manning has been getting all the attention lately.

Everytime the man shatters another record, all these threads get bumped with angry, defensive Pats and Brady fans. And it's only going to get worse over the next couple of years as Manning continues to shred and Tom Terrific gets benched and then retires.

You do realize he has played the 2nd most games of any QB ever ( 61 more than Brady), only Favre has played longer. Glad it happened for Manning with a lot less picks than Favre

There isnt one now... Brady is not the GOAT as a QB. Someone saying they would take Brady over Manning in a single game situation does not mean they consider Brady the better QB. It just means they want to win the game.. Having been fortunate enough to see Montana, Elway, Marino, Manning, Brady, Young, Warner etc etc I can say without a doubt Manning is the best pure QB of all of them. That however is not the same as saying he is the guy you would want to win a game for you. Barry Bonds was a better baseball player than Derek Jeter but if I have a guy going up with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded and I need a hit to win the Series I am taking Jeter every damn time. Same premise.

I could have SWORN you Brady disciples are the ones always decrying QBR, Sonny!

I dont take much stock into either, but I hear the Manning ball huggers use the " He played on worse teams, or "didnt have any talent around him" you can see with stats esp much more picks, see where the focus lays on the results.

BTW I bet that at least 75% of Pats fans will say that Montana is the GOAT. Sorry buy Brady lost that with the last 2 SB losses and Manning playoff woes hurt him

As a fan of a team whose best QB has been Matt Schaub i'd gladly take either of them, and you'd never hear me cry if they lost in the SB.

No, even without a super bowl win, he is not a bust. Obviously, that's the ultimate goal in this whole thing, but if he comes up short he's still been the best QB in the league and better than Denver could have possibly hoped for coming off that neck surgery.

That said, I think the better question is "If Peyton wins the super bowl this year, does he retire?"

I don't think so. He seems to care quite a bit about playing all five years of his deal. I also think that the chance to win back-to-back, like Elway, would be pretty enticing.

Stats in the NFL are misleading. The rules keep changing every season and a lot of the great ones from the past had very little protection and their receivers were getting mugged on a regular basis.

Do we really care who is the GOAT today? In ten years we may have different opinions. Lets just enjoy the fact that some of these games are actually entertaining and we get to see a lot of great play by great players.

Absolutely If Rodgers can maintain what he is doing for another 7 years and win another SB or 2 he might be the next guy. Guy is just under 100 games played right now so time will tell. Best of my gen is Montana 4 SBs with 0 int that's Joe Cool

Luck will surpass all three....

He probably will pass Rodgers statistically only because Luck got about a three year head start while Rodgers to ride the pine behind that diva brett favre.

Of course he isn't a bust if he doesn't win a SB in Denver. He's a 1st round HOFer today. But if he can't win a Super Bowl with a pretty loaded Denver, he loses credibility in the GOAT discussion but that's about it. And it's not just a BradyManning issue. It's Montana, Elway etc.

Be careful saying stuff like that or you'll start getting followed around with shit like "obsession" and "blind hatred." But yeah, the hypocrisy and insecurity out of Foxboro is amazing to witness. Every time Peyton Manning smashes a new record or accomplishes something amazing, the Brady people get wound up. :L
