How long does Philly stick with Wentz before going back to Foles?

This thread started about Wentz/Foles but quickly and repeatedly went to Wentz/Dak. He tried to act like I just brought up Dak today in this thread to change subjects and a large large portion was about Dak/Wentz. Don’t pretend like it wasn’t.

Every one of them is happy Foles is starting this last game rather than Wentz. Even @PhoenixEagles1 would rather have Foles playing this game with the season on the line rather than Wentz.

Yeah, I like Foles hot play A LOT, never said I didn't. But his cold play is just awful too and I don't like a lot of bad QB play (not sure how this is a controversial statement). If he can play like last week consistently, I'd take him in a heartbeat. So would a bunch of other GM's. If he plays like he did against the Rams and Falcons the rest of the team has to do a LOT more to win than it does with Wentz. IF Foles can play at last weeks level going forward sure I'd love him to stay as the starter, but that's not what Foles has done.

It has nothing to do with "fanboy" as you try to make it out to be. My kid has a Foles jersey, not a Wentz one. I didn't post here because I was on vacation, so that lie of yours can stop too ok?

Yes, Foles set the single game passing yardage record for Philly in a game. And Wentz has the 2nd best QB rating all time for a players 2nd/3rd seasons. He's only had 1 truly bad game in the past two seasons.

Wentz last 25 starts, 56 TD's 14 INT's 17 wins 102 QB rating.
Foles last 25 starts, 20 TD's 15 INT's, 10 wins and 79 Qb rating.

I'm just saying I want to see Foles more consistent if he'd unseat Wentz...

The problem isn't Foles when he's lighting it up. It's that the past 5 years his QB rating is on par with Bortles and Siemian, and that's the game that comes out most often and the game I don't like as much. Bortles was what? A play from the SB? Does that one dropped INT with him on the sidelines completely change your view on him? To me, no, he's still Bortles and without that consistency, he's not a great option going forward.


To me what makes Brady and other elite QB's great isn't them at their best. It's that them at their worst is still so good. I don't see how that's somehow a shock or a big issue to want more consistent good play instead of huge games and big streaks of poor play.

If Foles can play at an elite level consistently, heck yeah. If Wentz can continue doing so heck yeah. This isn't some giant problem for me that you make it out to be. Our QB situation is good. The run game, and pass D is really what concerns me right now and I'd like to see more on.

This team was left for dead and Foles was left to limp the carcass home. Instead, he rallied the team and beat TWO playoff teams back to back. One on the road and one in dramatic fashion and all you can say is “yeah... he’s hot”. Turn in your eagles fan card!!!

Don’t worry if Foles is “elite”. He isn’t but neither is Wentz and THATS the point. You and other fanboys think he is!! He isn’t... not even close. He was handed the keys to a championship caliber team last year and he reaped the benefits of that. That’s obvious because the team won without him.

Not saying Wentz is Elite, never said Wentz is elite... I said he has the 2nd highest QB rating in NFL history over a players 2nd and 3rd year. Only Kurt Warner was better. That was it.

And yes the D sucked at times.. The secondary sucked at times. The team has been flat with both QB's offensively at times.

You say Wentz is the reason for the slow starts. Remind me again how 9 points a game in the first half with Foles starting is better than over 10 points a game in the first half with Wentz clearly not fully recovered from his ACL?

One thing I do know though. As one poster here calls Foles an avg. QB, Journeyman. he is doing more with the exact same team that Wentz has. Which tells me one thing. I dont think he should continue calling his idol a Superstar or phenom anymore. How about wait & see if he can reach such potential 1st, before putting him in the HOF.

& before said poster not to be named says he never said Wentz is HOF material. Have you ever heard of a Phenom/Superstar in the NFL not make the HOF?

Personally I hope the eagles make the playoffs. That screws all of the coaching staff (especially the HC) Put Wentz back in & he loses..... Well everyone knows what will be said.
Foles stays at QB & they win a playoff game or hell even if he just plays well & they lose for other reasons. Just that much bigger controversy to deal with in the offseason. (being honest no way the Eagles make the superbowl this year) So do they let the savior hero go, or the young Prince due to inherit the kingdom?

Kinda not a big deal if they dont make the playoffs, but if they do. A lot of extra headaches to deal with.

I think you hit it spot on. No matter what decision the coaching staff makes it will likely end up the wrong one unless they trade Foles and Wentz does actually become a legend. The fact of the matter is though that no matter how much potential Wentz had 2 years ago, he hasn't finished two seasons now due to injury. Phenom/legend QB's are known for being less injury prone in their younger years. If they decide to keep Foles then they have to pay him more money to hold a clip board. Foles likely won't care. He seems quite content with his position as a high paid savior but can the Eagles afford that? Somebody posted that the Pats may go after him. I hadn't though of that but it's not far fetched. Foles is a great QB under center of a quality team. I would never turn Foles loose to build a team from scratch. Will Belichek cough up the dough? Who knows. Brady may be less threatened by Foles though given that Foles is less ambitious and perfectly willing to be a high priced clip board holder who just happens to be a SB MVP. This could happen!
