How dumb is it to say that Manning choked?

Seattle was the better team, but that doesn't change the fact that Manning still choked.

As usual.

with right around 100 million local, nothing would convince me that there are multiple hundreds of millions international watching a game none of them even understand. I would be surprised if there were 150 million total.

"Measured in the 100's of million" Would mean 100M or more wouldn't it? Hundreds is a scale of measure. The S on the end doesn't denote how many of that unit.

Enlighten us on how Manning choked?

Does he play special teams to tackle Harvin? (Go Gators)
Does he control his receivers and running backs ability to hold on to the ball and not fumble?
Does he control his center getting confused and snapping the ball over his head while he is still calling the play?
Can he block for himself so he doesn't get hit on a 3 step drop (e.g. quick pass) that goes straight up and gets picked?

He didn't play perfect, but choked? Come back to reality and salvage any credibility you once had...

I saw a lot of (interception/incompletion) ducks thrown by the great Manning tonight....didn't help that he was throwing half his passes with his eyes closed.....talk about throwing up prayers...lol:laugh3:

listen, choking would have been missing open receivers all over the field (like brady did in the AFCCG). choking would have been he had plenty of time and was missing targets. choking would NOT be throwing 2 bad passes the entire game, when his Oline played like dog shit.

Did peyton play great or even good? Hell no. But it was far from a choke. The whole Seattle defense just annihilated the broncos offense. At every level of the game. This thing was over after the safety on the first play.

I wouldn't say Manning choked, but I would say he got ran over by a 20 tone diesel truck. The Seahawks, just simply put everything together at the right time and played the game to perfection.

Exactly.

Choked, I don't know but it's fair to say his first half was dismal and is second half was not much better. IMO he missed a lot of throws he use to make. Peyton always gets credit for being the smartest QB in the league, and how well he reads and manipulates defenses, well he didn't do that. The Donks are loaded on offense and he could not consistently move the ball. Some of this is Manning but IMO it's FOX. I flat out did not understand that hiring when it took place, he has consistently had poor game plans in the playoffs. Just as Manning or any QB does not win games they do not lost games. The Donks were beaten by the better team.

I will say that Peyton did not have his best but there was so much more to this by the Broncos than just Peyton. We have already talked about the arm being hit on the pick 6. That's a no brainer and frankly, when a ball goes up like that, the receiver has to get into a defensive mode. The receiver just stood there watching it.

How about Harvin's KO return to the house? Piss poor cover play on ST and missed arm tackles galore. 7 pts.

Kearse and Baldwin's TD's. Good throws and catches but at least 3 missed tackles on both. 14 pts.

I have respect for Champ Bailey but he couldn't cover Baldwin deep down the sideline. Completely over-matched and lead to another 3 pts.

The first play from scrimmage. Total brain fart by the center. 2 pts.

Folks, just on that alone, we have 33 of the 43 points on the board.

Ok, back to Manning. The first pick was on him, no defending that. Threw behind his receiver right into Kams hands and it ended up costing them points when they were already down and being manhandled.

Lots of short passes on crossing routes 4-5 yds. People talk about this like it's a character flaw. If you actually pay attention to how this offense works, they have a lot of these, especially early on to draw safeties up and open up the field. It's called strategy and all year, Bronco's WR's have been getting huge yds after the catch. It doesn't work against a LB corps and secondary that swarms to the ball this fast and tackles great in the open field. On one of the few times that D. Thomas broke one of them, he got the ball punched out. Hardly can blame Peyton for that.

Having said all that, an offense this good should put up more than 8 points in almost garbage time but it looked like the rest of that team was just standing around waiting for Peyton to do it all. Football has never worked that way and they had never faced a defense like that this year. The other 53 guys in the locker room can share the blame here but give credit where it is due and that is to the Seahawks. Just a dominant effort all around.

He threw 2 picks under pressure like a total idiot by just throwing it up there and that cost them the game. He choked and he choked hard. Everything after that was just gravy.

One of his interceptions his arm was hit and the ball "qaucked" and was intercepted! Manning seemed off his game the entire night and that was because he was dominated by Seattle's defense and the Broncos OL gave him absolutely NO time to think back there.

Excellent summation. Who says everyone's brain is soggy in the Pacific Northwest? Who dey?

LOL If you say so, though I suspect that Manning has a lot more experience in that situation than you do. So easy to second guess while watching on TV.

You'd think he'd know better than to throw back across his body on the run like he handed the game away with last year, too. It really seems like some games and situations are just too big for him.

as i discussed with some of you prior to the game, the seahawks were possibly going to have the game plan and players to shut down the broncos short rub routes. once that was done, their whole offense was done for. that is the lifeblood of their offense.

this was not a 'choke' by anyone. this was a defense with the right game plan and the right players to completely shut down what an opposing offense likes to do.

The refs also Hurt mannings day... THe broncos were about to score a TD in that last drive of the first half, but a missed call stopped the flow... Although that really was the only big misstep i saw from the refs!!! But at the end of the day it didnt matter seattle was just too good for Denver to handle...

If only Peyton had a O line.

If the refs just did not go against the Broncos they would have won.

But he did. Peyton shredded the league all year. Had his will with every defense he played. Came back from deep deficits, controlled the line of scrimmage, got in defenses heads, and on and on and on.

Peyton is captain comeback.

Hard to argue that he didn't. If he didn't choke then he didn't show up tonight.

Best team all year right? Shut down the Pats in the AFC Championship. Should be a shoe in for Super Bowl Champs. Oh Wait....

Also, it's weird to me to blame the O Line when all we hear all year is how Peyton adjusts everything and makes all the line calls, etc...
