This is GREAT. Good creature feature, minimized jump scares (and the ones there were meaningful/fairly predictable - it didn't require a super loud BANG with a fakeout clock or some bullshit), AMAZING younger acting (Alyla Browne is about 13 or so) and she carries the film - so rare for an actor of that age to do it. I am looking forward to what this young lady does in film going forward... God damn what a hell of a job. Usually a find kids annoying, but if a 13 year old can carry a movie... DAYUM.

Some great elements here of Alien, good isolation, fun film overall. This screams 90s B movies, and God bless them for making it. We need more of this and not the stupid paranormal shit we see 24/7 for the PG13 kiddies.

I'll give this a solid 7/10... I'm a bit biased because I love creature features but I couldn't help but love this movie for what it was.
Saw this last night and I agree with the above review. Slightly above average mainly because of the great cast; good special FX and the creature is top notch.

Did anyone watch Werewolves? I heard it was pretty bad. That said, there's WolfMan coming out in short order... I'm hoping that works out. I applaud the effort to give us more creature features and ditch the stupid ass Paranormal shit.

Has anyone ever used ScreamBox? I was thinking of getting it for a month so I can watch Terrifier 3.

Yea I tried it out over a year ago but cancelled after a few months of consuming most of everything they had, but honestly didn't feel it was worth it. I think I did it through Amazon Prime? But later found out you could get all of their in-house stuff for free with a library card. Most of their in-house stuff was pretty shallow, but unique. My way of being nice to B-horror type films lol. They had some old 70s-80s horror which was awesome, so it was ok to supplement other streaming services with and I was growing tired of waiting for AMC/Shudder to put out new material. Loved that it was ad-free too but not sure if it still is.

Honestly kinda feels like these occasional big exclusive draws like Terrifier 2 & 3, are the only things keeping Screambox alive.

Watched Elevation (2024) over the weekend. I thought it had some good potential and served ok as an alien-invasion thriller. Basically a lower-tier ripoff of A Quiet Place. But I think they missed the mark on the suspense element. The only water it held in that department was the fleeing moments. They really talked up these creatures as apex predators but they really didn't create much fear. Not really sure how it missed that mark, but if the suspense element was kicked up a notch it would have been way better.

The story had some unique elements to it. Liked the elevation aspect, which sported some really cool cinematography. It was something new in comparison to most invasion type movies. But overall it was sorta half-cooked & rushed. Only 90 minute runtime. And I didn't care for the big reveal at the end. It was worth the watch, but don't expect much.

Watched Terrifier 3 a couple of nights ago. Of the three, I'd rank it 2nd. For me, I liked the 2nd one the best, followed by this one and the first one last. I thought that it was slow in parts. This one definitely had more of a grindhouse feel to it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Is this inspired by the game!? GOD DAMMIT. I was waiting years for this, and it looks HORRIBLE!

Whatever, it was basically going to be impossible to get a good Until Dawn movie because the game was basically it (hell even Stormare signed up for it).

If it's any consolation, at least Uwe Boll isn't directing it.

So I saw Wolfman - it was... not bad but just kind of meh.

Some minor spoilers I guess:

First off, it's not really about werewolves lol (course the title never said it was), the creature design seems more like a half man, pig, bear thing lol... I dunno, just not really impressed by the creature design. The movie starts off with reading that some natives said there's some virus or something that causes the wolf man.. frankly with exception of the teeth it could've just been a homeless guy on drugs, honestly.

There's some good suspense but not really, it's kind of predictable. For being trapped in a cabin by a monster it just didn't seem to have any tension, lol. Even Howl (trapped in a train) did it way better. A lot of nothing is happening, and I know the goal is to have the Dad (who is attacked) SLOWLY go through this morphing process, but at some point I was like, "okay get on with it, lol."

The acting was decent by the parents (little girl was barely noticeable) and all in all it was pretty predictable and just... forgettable? I would still recommend you watch, but it's one of those watch and shelf it kind of movies.

You know now that I think of it, the movie really reminded me of Lamb in a lot of ways. Family dynamic issue, some monster is out there but not really what seems like that big of a threat? A lot about transformation and family dynamics, etc... and when it's over you're just kind of like, "Eh, okay." And go on about your day. It really doesn't seem like a horror film to me - and I said the SAME THING about Lamb, lol. Like even Until Dawn, you don't even know wtf the thing is early on, but the threat of it out there is gripping. This I was kind of yawning the entire time. Musical score in UD was also unsettling. Oh and like Lamb, this basically doesn't have any musical score or noteworthy sound direction... lol.

Yep, Playstation Productions...

I agree it looks somewhat disappointingly underwhelming. But I'm hoping it will surprise us

I don't get why they're adding a time element to it... unless that's part of a plot twist?

Whatever, the game was basically a movie anyway - so to your point let's hope this surprises us. I would've LOVED a movie on the prequel to Until Dawn (all the miners/the asylum, etc.) but maybe the studio wants to do a game sequel on that.

I believe there were rumors of the game sequel.

Al Gore? Oh noes! :heh:

Maybe that’s where you were already going with it lol

lol! I mean I can get past some crap creature design pretty easily if the story, characters, sound, and tension/suspense (and I don't mean PG13 lame jump scares since the 2000s) are done well. Again going back to my example, Howl is a werewolf movie where there's CGI, the creature design isn't great, but it's got great atmosphere, likeable and dislikeable characters, and some moments where your stomach sinks a bit (tension/suspense).

This really had none of it. For a movie with really only 3-4 characters - in terms of werewolf stuff, gotta stick with Bad Moon. The dog who was named Thor was certainly a character, the book was called 'Thor' and is an EXCELLENT read - told from the dog's perspective. I recommend it to you guys. German Shepherd, great acting in the movie. Still one of the creepiest werewolf designs in movie history IMO.

I mean at times though with this movie I was like, "This is a homeless guy on bath salts."
