Haven't seen anyone mention Barbarian (2022) yet. Was a good (if not gross at times) watch.

Btw I don't know if you guys have heard of Kingdom on Netflix but I HIGHLY recommend it. The Koreans are killing it in the zombie department lately!

Props to whoever recommend "Kingdom" ...I can't find the post I saw it on.

3 episodes in ...and it's fantastic. 8.5

The Koreans don't mess around. Their horror movies/shows always seen to be shot in super hi resolution and clarity.

Kingdom (2019)-

A Korean zombie series set in the 16th century.
A king lies sick and is isolated by his handlers. The young Crown Prince works to try to solve the mystery of an outbreak, all while being opposed by the family of his very young and pregnant step mother. As outbreaks start gathering momentum, the heros move across the country and desperately attempt to contain it.

Very well done.
*It looks spectacular, from the nature shots, down to the settings and costumes, are all great. They spent time and money making sure the of the details.
*The zombies look and act great! They are constantly in attack mode, and always a threat.
*The story is very good. They balance the big picture nicely with the individual reationships and events. There is an interesting mystery, and most certainly a nerve wracking ticking clock factor.

This one looks and feels epic. To me, it is essentially the equivalent to if we followed a single family story in Game of Thrones (without the sex) if it was set in Asia 600 years ago, and tossed in crap loads of 28 Days Later style zombies (with the twitchy, bone-cracking Korea style blended in).

There isn't a ton on the downside, but:
*Can be very slow moving as the plot is explored. I had trouble getting through the first 2 episodes because they were so exposition heavy with only a few small zombie parts, but when episode 3 hit the actions took off! There are still slow parts after that but also many large scale zombie attacks.
The big zombie horde attacks are a constant threat, and they are the best I've ever seen!
Some great fxs. The zombies are scary as hell, and lots of blood and guts are everywhere.
*It is Korean, which means either dubbing and/or subtitles. I chose the dubbed versions, and while it is some of the better dubbing I've heard (distinct, yet natural voices for the individual characters, well written dialogue) it is still dubbing.
*Remaining on the "It is Korean" theme, I had a bit of an issue that is more of a "Western problem" as I had too often had trouble distinguishing characters. I don't usually have this issue but with dozens of characters, all dressed in their clan's or job's uniform, combined with the similar physical characteristics of the characters, it was difficult.
I had lunch with a group of Chinese co-workers once and we discussed this very thing: Western people use characteristics such as hair color, eye color, skin color, and height to recognize individuals and with these traits being somewhat homogenized, and add to it that the clothes are often the same uniforms and 65% of the men had similar facial hair, it was a bit of a struggle at times.....
.....but I digress!

There are 2 seasons, but it is relatively short with only 6 episodes in each.
There is also a stand-alone called Kingdom: Ashin of the North, which is a revenge tale about a girl from a small tribe of forest folk who get slaughtered. Personally I liked the series better, but my bro-in-law favored the movie.

All in all, a very impressive series with lots of twists, political intrigue, and most importantly, thousands of jaw-chomping bloody zombies that on constant horde attack mode!

I'll go about 8 to 8.5 outta 10 range for the series. The foreign and dubbing aspects, as well as some slow pacing inbetween the gore bring it down just a little but it is so well done in the other aspects that it makes for a highly recommended watch imo.
The stand alone movie was also very good, but less epic and took over 2/3 of the 1.5 hour run time before the zombie stuff really picks up. I'll go about 7.5 outta 10.

Not a groundbreaking revelation, but the Koreans do zombies better than anyone at this point, and this is one of the best to come out of that market.

For the record, Ashin of the North is basically Season 2.5 but shown as a movie.
Season 2 ends with them showing you this unknown Girl. Ashin of the North is her story.

So it's a sure bet that Ashin will be a big part of season 3.

How are you doing and your 2 young boys if memory serves me right? My 25 yr old finally got married last month after Covid postponements. Hope all is well with you and prob see ya on the Pitt/NE thread!! Who knows with this game, because Pats have had their no# last 20 as you posted but I didnt' expect Pitt w/o Ben and JuJu to beat the AFC Champs, and face it , Pats w/o TB12 just suck

Doin ok man. Life has been kicking me in the nuts a lot lately but I’m still rolling with the punches. Kids are doin well. Eldest just started 1st grade & did tee ball last spring.

I used to watch this show as a kid. Always stuck with me just how weird it was. Not just this clip, but the whole show was pretty bonkers.

Watched the Dracula miniseries on Netflix (originally BBC). Thought the first 2 episodes were pretty solid and the third got too cutesy trying to be clever and went off the rails. Worth a watch.

A double pack from one of the "Big 3 of Giallo" Italian horror cinema, Lucio Fulchi!

Aenigma (1988)-
A young girl at a private boarding school is constantly bullied, and one instance leads to her getting hit by a car and going into a coma. A new girl arrives at the school and is seemingly posessed, and people start dying off in weird ways.
This one is essentially a Carrie knock-off, and it tends to suffer more than most from the poor dubbing. The story is kinda cool I guess, and there is some decent gore.
There is a crazy death-by-slug scene which will gross folks out!
5 to 5.5 outta 10 range from me. Just kinda middle of the road.

Demonia (1990)-

........yet another Lucio Fulci one!
This one opens with a bang. 5 nuns get sacrificed in an underground tomb in a fairly horrific scene. Then we fast forward 400 years or so to the present where a group of archeologists awaken the spirits of the nuns, and nasty stuff starts happening to everyone involved.
This one would seem to have a lot going for it: killer harpoon ghost, crazed locals, spike pit impalements, ranting psychic girlfriend (main character), graphic ripping a guy in half, etc, etc., and, most importantly, slutty evil nuns with a pretty over-the-top backstory of orgies and infantcide. However, despite all of this stuff it is bit of a mess. The overall story just kinds limps along. The characters are rather bland and stupid. Not a ton of value inbetween to "good" stuff.
I'll put it right into that same area of 5 to 5.5 outta 10.

The only 3 movies of Fulchi that I can really recommend to a broader audience are his Gates of Hell trilogy, The House by the Cemetery, City of the Living Dead, and my fav The Beyond (all 3 reviewed in this thread). I do need to see more before passing final judgement but the rest that I have seen is badly dubbed, weirdly edited, questionably acted schlock. There is a certain charm if you can handle the bad qualities, but it might take a little patience to sit through them.
