Watched Slither recently and yeah, good one too. You missed one though: Thankskilling! Incredible. The theme song is so cheesy and there are some hilarious turkey puns.

Never heard of it!

It sounds wondrrfully bad! I will have to check it out.

Just noticed that Netflix has been releasing quite a few horror/thriller movies that I have been reviewing over the past couple months. Last shift, Kristy, The Stranger, Lazarus Effect, Dark Was the Night, Let Us Prey, and a few others.

Haven't really been paying attention to Netflix as much lately.

Watched "The Final Girls" the other day. Horror comedy with a decent story. Basically a blending of Friday the 13th with Pleasantville.

Positives:
Has a budget and spreads it around for overall quality.
Funny, quirky storyline.
Pokes fun at the 80s horror genre
Acting is ok

Negatives:
A bit too light for my tastes. Would have liked a little more gore and/or darkness tossed into the mix.
They didn't make the "Jason" character strong enough. He wasn't the killing machine he should have been.

Bottom line: Worth a watch if you are into the genre. Successfully pokes fun but comes off a bit weak at times. Same type of humor as T&DvsE but not quite reaching that level.

Also watched "Visions". Reminded me a bit of The Gift (the 2000s version with Cate Blanchett, not the recent one) in it's feel. Not a bad watch. Spooky ghostly build up to finale type story. The wife liked it quite a bit which is kind of a gauge for the style and feel.

Positives:
Decent budget and acting. Stars the younger daughter with the nice set of ta-tas from The Wedding Crashers.
Story was well written with a nice twist to it
Direction was good as the plot was natural and fairly seemless.

Negatives:
A bit too light for my tastes but, as previously stated, translated great for the wife's tastes.
Couldn't take Jim Parsons seriously at all as I just keep thinking of him as Sheldon. It would have been better with an actor without such a popular pop culture character cast into his relatively minor role.

Bottomline:
Well done enough flick but kinda horror light. They could have ramped it up a bit. Worth a watch as middle ground stuff with my wife. I don't mean that as a negative as it is a half way decent flick but just not quite gory as my twisted taste likes.

Man, I'm rooting for Krampus but it kinda has a Disney-ish feel to it...just from the commercials I've seen.

It's probably the christmas theme... Kinda throws people.

I remember thinking the same thing when I watched Trick 'r Treat's trailer for the first time... Felt like a kiddy movie

Don't be fooled Chef! In Michael Dougherty We Trust!!!

I got lost trying to find my way back here.....good shot tagging me Face....
I've remained dedicated like I said! Even though we're far from locking out the thread, we're still well on our way to hitting 10k views!

Right now we're sitting around 13 views per post! That's a solid rate!

The Keep 1983

An old favorite from back in the day. This was Michael Mann's 2nd movie of his directing career.
Some good actors too
Gabriel Byrne Ian Mckellen Jurgen Prochnow

A solid 7.0

The trailer is a bit lacking.

The Hallow (2015)

UK horror comin' at ya! lol. This movie had some great potential. The concepts aren't exactly original, but the way the director put it all together was awesome. The acting was good, the cgi was awesome, and the cinematography was perfect. The plot builds suspense perfectly, and gets pretty intense for a while. But around the climax and resolution things got a little silly. I think the writer/director (Corin Hardy) tried to get a little too "creative" and almost ended up squandering a great buildup. The baby swap idea was unnecessary. Also if you are going to dial up the intensity with the attacks and then all of the sudden go quiet, you are going to cause problems. Like, oh did the creatures need to take a quick lunch break or something? If he would have simplified the climax and didn't make it so outlandish then it would have been perfect. But overall I don't think it ruined the movie. Just made me stop and think, "why?" a few times. If you can glaze over those parts then this is actually a pretty damn good movie.

That crazy fungus is at it again... 7/10
